Can I ask what nose weight did you use and where did you put it. I love the Me 262 but I'm afraid to do it because I don't know where to put the nose weight or where to put it. Your doing a fantastic job on it. Good job. Love watching this model come to life.
I've just used the kits weight, if anymore is needed I can add it through the gun bay it needed. Or if your building this you could add more before the nose cone is glued in place

Very nice and tidy build- and paintjob Paul. How was the fit of the engine bays to the wings, lots of filling required?
It's is so dreadful on my academy 1/72 single seat version that I've put at the back of the workbench. Seeing yours painted is getting me interested to work on mine again.

Spent this afternoon, fading and bleaching the paintwork and post shading, i used tamiya smoke to post shade for the first time and it worked ok, needs very thin coats or it looks ott, as usually the camera shows the post shading as too strong  I also added more mottling to the side and think it looks better.

Looking at the pics i can see a few areas that need a bit of attention :thumb2:

Like it more and more as she gets "mottlier" and worn...some weathering on there, decals and a good matt varnish...stunner!

Looking awesome - do love the Me262.

Could I ask how you used Tamiya Smoke for the post-shading? Cheers.

I just used it nice and thin and went over all the panel lines the same way you would pre shading. it needed really thin application thug or the effect is over done, i had to go back and tone some of it down a little.

So the last build update

Got it decaled last night, clear coated this morning and applied a Ultimate Dark Dirt wash

Image

Removed the wash, and glued the antenna wires in place using easy line. Love how the wash has brought out a ll the panel lines details and rivets, it's a very well detailed kit for the money :thumb2:

Image

Some Ultimate concrete wash in the tyres

Image

Got all the antennas on and hand painted then Matt coated the aircraft and removed the screen masks.

Sadly some paint got under the armoured glass on the front screen and I can't get it out, not the end of the world though. Still need to paint the gun bay door struts and put a wash on the front antennas then I'll get some pics for the final reveal.

Hey Paul, I'm fairly new back to modelling as an adult and I was wondering if you could expand a little bit on "fading and bleaching" and what do you mean by each? I will be starting my third aircraft in a week or so, Tamiya's Supermarine Spitfire Mk. I. My understanding of post shading, which I will be doing on the bottom is taking the Sky I used, adding a little white and lightly filling inside the panel lines. Would I just stay inside the camo lines for that color on the upper fuselage? I would like to give the upper fuselage a sun bleached look to tone down and unify the dark earth and dark green camo. I think I will be trying the stickie putty and paper board technique for masking like you did here, for that hard/soft edge. In the video for the 262 you mentioned doing a figure 8 pattern for bleaching. Could you please expand on that more? For example, do you add white to dark earth and figure 8 only the dark earth patterns?

If anyone else has advice on that I'm all eyes. Thanks.
