Hello!

Post by Wehrmacht54 »

Hello everyone! I was introduced to this forum from a YouTube video by Coen. I was interested in getting back into this hobby and found some of his videos online that inspired me to get back into the hobby. My interest in this hobby started sometime around 2002 or 2003, believe it or not I was about 12-13 at the time and my Dad introduced me to the historical aspect of the second world war. Ever since then I have had a strong interest in everything WW2. Around that time I started building WW2 models in 1/72, which were very basic but sparked my interest in the hobby. As time went on I became very interested in the 1/6 scale line of action figures produced by Dragon Models. I would say this started a strong obsession in scale modelling that actually led to winning a contest at DXPO '05 in Atlanta Georgia where the grand prize of the figure contest was to have a 1/6 scale figure modeled and named in your likeness.

This was my 1/6 figure produced in my likeness "Sam Blake". (my first name is Samuel, middle is Blake)

This was the climax of my childhood military modelling career by far, after that I was 16 years old and my years of puberty/high school kicked in leaving behind my beloved hobby.

Now 24 years old with a career and family under my belt I've taken an interest again in scale models and hope to make myself comfortable on this forum as from what I have seen you all are a good bunch of guys. I have a Dragon Models 1/35 Ferdinand on order that will be my first build back in this hobby and hope to have a blast with it!

Welcome to ISM I'm Sam, I'm pretty new Here Myself.
Glad Your back in the hobby , It looks like You have a natural ability when it comes to figures, a lot of modellers strive for many years and never get comfortable with it.
I started out with figures when I was 7 Years old and been modelling ever since .
Isn't it great Puberty wears off ! modelling never does ...
looking forward to seeing Your work and chatting on the boards .
Nige.

Actually it was flour. ;) But yeah, flour and glue did the trick.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, my Ferdinand came in the mail today! Eager to start on this project!
