ISM Secret Santa 2014!

Post by Yevgeny »

Time is up.
No more entries will be accepted for ISM Secret Santa 2014.

 ISM Secret Santa 2014

Good day my fellows scale modellers. The Christmas holiday season is upon us, so let's celebrate in style and in the spirit of giving.
This been done in the modelling communities across the globe many times before and looks like a great fun.

What is Secret Santa?

"Secret Santa a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned a person to whom they anonymously give a gift. Often practiced in workplaces or amongst large families, participation in it is usually voluntary. It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost, since the alternative gift tradition is for each person to buy gifts for every other person. In this way, the Secret Santa tradition also encourages gift exchange groups whose members are not close enough to participate in the alternative tradition of giving presents to everyone else." Wikipedia

Please read first!
The rules in no particular order:

To participate a forum member must have a minimum of 100 posts, have displayed some of their work on the forum and be an active member in the last month.

Member must PM me with their full name and home address. No PO Box addresses! Please state your general area of interest in scale modelling. Please indicate if you are willing to post internationality. I will try my best to match people according to the countries/territories to avoid posting abroad if possible or minimise the cost.

Recommended gift cost is no more than £20/$30. This does not include cost of the postage.
All gifts must be brand new and in unused condition. You can use items from your stash. All gifts must be related to scale modelling. You may want to consider the other person's interest in scale modelling, but you are not restricted by it.

The last day to sign up is Saturday 6th December 2014. No new participants will be accepted after midnight London time, no exceptions.

Participants will be assigned to each other by drawing names out of the hat (or hats depending on the countries).
Each Secret Santa will be given a person (forum name, full name and address) by the end of Sunday 7th December 2014.

All gifts must be posted by Wednesday 17th December 2014. No exceptions. Don't wait till last day. Include some reference to ISM Secret Santa 2014 on the parcel for obvious reasons.

A photo of the received gift MUST be posted in the unwrap topic (will be open later). Failure to do so will result in action deemed suitable by Lee and Paul.

In event of a dispute due to the lost post, a proof of postage must be provided. Save screenshots of online orders with postage.

Your entry in the gift exchange is binding, for logistical reasons. So please enter only if you are committed to it.

In the event of a person not sending a gift and not responding to correspondence, that person will be permanently banned and publicly shamed on ISM, FaceBook & YouTube...!!!

Once your entry has been accepted you will receive PM and will be added to the list of participants below.

Minimum number of members required for ISM Secret Santa 2014 to take place is 10.

Due to the time restrictions, some gifts may arrive late, so please be patient.
By participating you must remember that all of this is done with good faith in the members of the community.

So please join in the fun. Its is a very short notice and the dates are tight but it's certainly is possible :)
The ISM Secret Santa 2014 was inspired by YouTube member Deron Shank and his Secret Santa initiative.

Even though we've got one going among the hangout guys, i guess i can join this one too.

Just a suggestion, for anyone who gets someone in a foreign country, just purchase their gift from their own country to avoid high postage costs :thumb2:

So it's best to buy stuff online? Not but stuff at your local shop and mail it to them? Are both options possible?

Both options are fine :)
I plan to post myself if possible. If I need to post to Australia from UK then I'll try to order in Australia and have it posted directly.

The last day to enter is Saturday 6th of December. I will assign people immediately after midnight and PM the details to participants, so you will have one day to sort it out.

Glad this was mentioned, as I prolly would of opened immediately, being the impatient sort of person. But way better idea. Looking forward to taking part in a Sig build. Hope my recipient likes what I ordered as it is something I was very interested in getting for myself!

No point in starting another thread, so I suggest we just post our gifts in this thread.

Feel free to post photos of your parcels, but no unwrapping till Christmas!
Starting from 25th of December, can everybody please post photos of received gifts in this thread.
Thank you :)

Sent mine too :)
