I can't say I have the experience off painting a black plane yet, but I guess it's the most difficult colour if you want to make it realistic.

If I may ask a question... how did you get that metal rod to secure into the bottom of the model? I see you made a hole, but is there any epoxy, or a lot of super glue holding in place, and at an angle like that?

Mikey yes, I used epoxy. I knew I wanted it inflight when I started building it. So I cut a notch out of one of the undercarriage doors. I filled the wheel well with 2part epoxy, put the door on, then inserted the brass rod. Left over night, it was rock solid. HTH.

Blimey Chief you're on a roll with this Shelf of Doom challenge. Brilliant stuff All excellently finished, and the shading on this SR-71 is marvellous. Inspiration for whenever I get round to my Italeri one in the stash. With all this extra space created I'm guessing your postman is going to be busy over the next month or so?

Wow, looks like the real deal!
I built one of these about 10 years ago. Those red stripe decals were such a headache for me as well as getting all the seams flush.

Yours turned out 100 times better.
