Alright, lets crack this thing open and see whats inside.....

Four sprues molded in a funky yellow metalflake plastic.

The canopy really isn't too bad to be honest.

The decals look decent as well.

The instructions made me laugh a little. :D

And it was pretty much what I expected for a kit first released in 1971(I believe).Flash, raised panel lines and looks like some fit issues, but in an odd way I am ok with this and I think this adds to the charm of this kit.I think this is going to turn out to be a fun little build. :cheers2:

Looks like a fun kit. I would love to get my hands on this one and the spitfire they do as well but they are quite hard to find.

Good luck with the build :pop:

Yea,these kits can be a little bit hard to find/expensive.I probably wouldn't have picked one up but I just happened to find mine in a small Mom and Pop hobby shop for $20.00.

Ok,the build has commenced  I deviated from the instructions a little to streamline the build process some. The fuselage, the tail and the wing halves fit together pretty well with only a few gaps that need to be filled.

Now Herr Mouldy Weiner on the other hand has some serious gaps that need to be filled.

So it looks like I get to spend the rest of my day filling and sanding.....

Got some more work done today. All parts not needing filler are cleaned up ready for primer, the parts needing filling are done and sanded except for the tail/fuselage section.

I managed to drill the exhaust headers without incident.

Image

Herr Mouldy Weiner is filled and sanded.

Image

The fuselage/tail section is together and the resultant gap was bad.

Image
Image

My only two choices on the seam was to leave it and save the rivet detail or fill it and loose the rivets....Lesser of two evils was to fill the seam.I used a old favorite I had forgotten I had,Bondo glazing and spot putty. This stuff works as good as Squadron green and is alot cheaper too.Kinda got carried away with it but oh well

Image

Once the fuselage is sanded it is time for primer and to decide on a paint scheme.

I am liking the drill out in those pipes
That, my friend, is a lot of bondo to sand off :eeek:

Oh hang on, you put some tape down first, good move
