Peppie's egg build episode two..

Post by peppie »

Part 1.

He guys,

Seeing I've got a whole box off eggs and how much fun I have making these, I decided
to make another one.

Ok, no blabbering this time. On with the build.
We start, off course, with en egg. ;)
Image
Cut off the top, and try to get out all off the egg white.
Image
This wasn't very easy, since the stuff was glued to the sides. And also the shell
became very weak this way.
So, change off plans.
Image
Cut off a slice from the bottom, and took out most off the white stuff. Leaving the
foam on the sides, to keep some strength.
Cut me a bottom plate (roughly), and stuck it on with some tape. After that I glued in
a front and back plate, only glueing them to the bottom.
Image
Creating a cabine I could work with, because the foam only eats my glue.. :bash:
Image
This must dry now.

So on to the sparesbox.
Found these fenders from a truck, but only two. No problem since they are way to big.
Out came the tape and scriber.
Image
And now we have four.
Also found me a roof and some wheels from the same truck, wich I replaced for some
nicer ones.
Image
Wheels are a little different, but when we turn them around..
Image
Not much different now are they?

And this is how far I got today.

Oh, one more picture.
Image
Maybe this will help you to guess what I'm going for..

So, with a exploding pc and very busy with work :violin: , it was getting a bit tight, time wise.. :jd:
But I did it  Only problem was the computer..... So I borrowed a laptop from someone, so I can show you my progress, and my finished egg off course :

Ok, a lot off pics so I'll try to keep the chatter to a minimum.

The glued cabin is all dried now, and then I can do this.
Image
Makes it a lot easier to work on the interior.
The roof, as you see to low and to long.
Image
So I placed some legs in the back, and cut a piece off the front and close that up again with some styrene.
Image
Made me a front window, and all together that looks like this.
Image
Made some nice edges on the cabin and found this piece in the sparesbox and connected it to the back.
Image
But..... what the heck is that doing on the back off a Kubel-Egg? Yep, changed my mind, didn't like the fenders, decided to change it into a Schwimm-Egg. I mean, that allready looks like an egg anyway.
Image

Interior:
Turned this
Image
Into this
Image
Yep..... steeringwheel
Backseat
Image
Only, when I fit it...
Image
Well thats a bit low.... don't think anyone will be able to look outside
Only thing to do, was to raise the floor. Since the real thing has a wooden rack on the floor to keep the feet dry, I decided to do the same.
Image
Made me some front seats.
Image
And dry fitted all.
Image
That will do for my interior, now for the outside.
First up, the exhaust.
Image
Image
And in place.
Image
As you can see, I added a protection plate over the prop.
Cut some glass.
Image
And put on some fenders.
Image
The wheels with the axles.
Image
Spare wheel looked a litle different, so I changed it to look somewhat like the other wheels.
Image
And in place.
Image
Standard issue on these vehicles was....... right, a padle.
Coffee stirrer stick.
Image
Some cutting and sanding.
Image
Et voila.
Image
Yes I now, looks a bit cartoonish... But he, look at the rest off the car..

A gun from one off those sets. The wrong one? Probably, since it was a set off Anglo / American weapons
Image
Image
These
Image
Became the head lamps and the holder for the paddle.
Image
Image
Image
Oh, and made and placed a license plate holder with tail light.
Second standard tool was off course a shovel.
Image
Some styrene plate and styrene tube, and a cocktail stick as a handle.
The dry fit.
Image

Then, after some filling and cleaning up, finally time for some primer and Mr. buffable for the gun and the shovel blade.
Image
Then some colour, detailing, gloss, decals, gloss, wash, etc, etc.......(sorry, bit of a hurry  )
Image
Image
Image
Image

Thats it for my build report, rest off the pics in the reveal section.

Thanks for watching. :th:
