GWH 1/144 K.2 Vulcan Tanker Reveal

Post by LudvigN »

The build is finally finished and it took about 35 days and that includes 2 weeks that I barely touched it. I enjoyed the build and the final results and will probably get GWHs other 1/144 aircraft (Victor, Valiant) in the future.

Funny story, read this first!

I finished the model and took it with me to my local club meeting (IPMS Göteborg) feeling very happy with myself and the finished model. Since the Vulcan is a rare build in sweden, regardless of scale, and I mean very rare, I thought that my club mates would be impressed with it(the aircraft and not my work) since the Vulcan is an impressive aircraft. When I came there and started to pack it up, I saw another, huge, bird and it was nothing else than....... a Vulcan! It was the 1/72 Vulcan from Airfix and this model was a true stunner! Very gorgeous work. (TO CLARIFY: Mine is the small one)

Image

The model has aftermarket parts for over 100 € + scratch built material for the bomb bays, cockpit(wich was beautiful), wheel bays and more. Not to mention the completely reworked and rescribed surface detail.

Suddenly, my Vulcan wasnt so impressive anymore, lol!  Anyway, people were still interested in the kit itself and I might have gotten a few more GWH-kits sold. Anyway, lets continue to my final conclusion.

Conclusion:

+ Surface detail
+ Pilots
+ Display stand included
+ Marking options
+ Options for gear up and down
+ Easy build

- A few very annoying fit issues (exhaust etc.)
- Confusing decal instructions
- No option for extended refuelling system

The stand was painted with Mr metal buffables(Stainless) using the hairy stick and it was black out of the box.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Until next time, cheers!

Cracking job on a small scale model...I love the Vulcan bomber, such a huge bird that leaves a huge impression when it passes by a low level! :) :thumb1: :thumb1:

Great finished job :th:

The gallery belies the scale and could easily be mistaken for a 1:72 kit.
