Tamiya Mig-15 1/48

Post by Russiankaliber »

Hey my comrades,

So I started my first ever plane hahaha. The only plane I did before this was 10 years ago, it was an old Bf-109 that I never finished.

Finally I decided to give it a try one more time, and picked an old Cold War classic. Its always been one of my favorite planes.

The Tamiya kit as usual, super awesome quality, pleasure to put together, and always makes me go back and order another new plane. lol

I dont think you guys want to see the building and priming process, so I will start straight to painting.

Got some Alclads to try out, and this is the first time ever for me using those fine paints. What a pleasure to work with, and my airbrush also agreed. Not much dishes after the feast as they say. Cleaning the airbrush was super easy. I didnt try alcohol yet, i drinked it mostly, but I did buy Alclads own airbrush cleaner, and it worked beautifully. Will try the isopropyl next build time for sure.

For priming, basic Gunze Mr.Surfacer 1000 was sprayed, and then instead of black gloss, I just sprayed Tamiya Clear Blue all over it. On top of clear blue went Polished Aluminum, and Aircraft Aluminum.

Masked out some hatches and panels, and ready for the next step. Update coming around friday :)

Thank you guys

Love it so far.

I've read sowhere that a nice way to achieve different tone with alclad is to superpose different layers of different references + a wash.

Enjoy the rest of it

Great masking and airbrushing to creating different panels. What color wash are you gonna use, and is it a general or pin wash? I'm a plane newbie myself.
