All you guys sporting their Tamiya's and larger Revell kits left me to dig through my small stash and find out a small scale "freebie" kit i received at the end of last year as part of a "Sorry i miss sold you a kit" handout..
I purposely put this in close reach just for this SiG..... Hope its a worthy entry?
Unfortunately, Matchbox messed up on the shape ( tail is wrong apparently, among other things ), and the cockpit detail is slim to say the least.
Panel lines are recessed as opposed to raised but are again, dogged with complaints that they are "too deep"...
Landing gear is wrong, tyres are wrong, Clear parts are thick and not very transparent....
Oh dear, this may well be a right pigs ear of a kit.... Some may yell... "Burn it now!"..
In its favour, it is built purposely for the younger audience to encourage modelling, moulded in tricolour plastic, the fit is reported to be nice.
Also, it isn't an "Airfix".... which for me is a welcome change.. Tho' maybe just "as bad" if not worse in its reputation.
Built in 1976.... and tempting me to enter the other Long-term build on the forum, the kit looks to be in fair order, all but the decals, but they may be salvageable...
Here you go with a quick peek in the box, be prepared to be amazed at all the glorious detail!

Instructions are pretty simple..

These decals are real bad, but on a plus i did get the paper off the front without damaging them any.

Sprues next.....

....and thats where we are for now guys...
Planning on maybe giving it the old "Panzerman Bill" treatment with a little scratch building to add the detail, not much as the kit cannot support too much extra work, but some..
I promise, one day i will build a more "up to date" kit..... "Nostalgia" and "Childhood memories" should be my middle names. Some of these kits need sending back to the last Century i know...... but they all deserve the love, and to be built... even if it is nearly 40 years on from manufacture... lol....
Till the next time, stay safe, keep well... Play nice with the plastic fella's...
