Racing Cars GB

Post by EasyEight96 »

Hi guys I would like to make a suggestion anyone interested in joining this GB??

The requirement are as follows

Must be a racing car from any racing series such as Le Mans , formula 1 , DTM and etc
Could be from the early days of racing to the modern racing days
Can be build oob or scratch build whichever you like
Duration 6 months ( could be a SiG)
Rally cars and others cars that were build for racing could do

Would like to get your feedback cheers

I'm all for it, sadly there are not too many car builders on the forum so I'm not sure how many more would join. It might be a good idea to expand it to competition cars, that way you could include rally cars as well as hill climb and land speed etc.

Just thinking out loud, but, I think 6 months might be too long. I get the impression that longer gb's don't do so well. It's too easy to put them aside for other builds and then lose interest. Also, the shorter gb's are kept alive and fresh by more frequent updates.

Oh that is sweet,Chief. Loving the direction this build will head.....just won't be able to start something new until January
Then I have to decide what to make out of the piles of kits I have :o
Tamiya F1 cars in 1/20 x8 or 1/12 x2
Hasegawa 1/25 Lancia Stratos or Tamiya WRX 1/25 for rally cars
911 or 944 Porsches in 1/25 in Gulf livery
Airfix's 1930 Bently Supercharged 1/12
Don't even get me started on about all the classic racing Bugatti's I have
How about a 1/12 Fiat Mefistofele from Italieri or a 1/8 Pocher Alfa Romeo Monza 1931
Image
Oh another weird one Protar Italy 1/25 Ferrari 250 GTO
Image
Ahhh too many choices!!!!!

Awesome and welcome to ISM. There are a few car nuts in amongst the tanks and planes
They make a yearly schedule for builds so we should be able to get some kind of auto related one in for 2016
In the meantime, keep posting and maybe start up a car build and show us some of your work!

Yeah! I would be up for this one!
I have never built a car before and would like to do one soon. Though I have no experience with the tecniques involved, it would be really fun to try something new for a change. I kinda like the looks of the sixties F1 cars, so I went and bought one yesterday.
The thing is that if you build something you haven't built before, should always start with a Tamiya kit.
So after I clared some of my other builds of the bench, I'm gonna build the Tamiya 1/20 scale Lotus 25 "Coventry Climax" as my first racing car.
I'll put up a build thread of it when the time comes. This should be fun!
I would probably build something similar for the GB. :)
Sebastian S.

"You don't know your limits before you tested them."

On the bench:
-Modelsvit 1/72 Tupolev Tu-22KD Blinder (From Russia With Love GB)
-Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 Coventry Climax
-Czech Master Resin 1/72 Fokker C.X Finnish version
...and some other stuff too.

Next projects: Waaaayyyy too much!

Well I've not built a model in about two years (mainly due to a fairly intensive return to college) however with more time on my hands now and this future build to inspire me I have got the workshop ship shape and ready to go. The build will be a rally car, I have a few to choose from

Image

I eventually plan on building three Subaru rally cars, one from Colin (McRae), one from Richard (Burns) and lastly from Petter (Solberg), I have been lucky enough to work with all three guy's during my time catering for the Subaru team. These have a ton of resin, P/E and carbon Fibre to throw at it.

I also have two of these on the way

Image

I plan on eventually building all M Sport works versions from 2011 to date using aftermarket decals as time and funds allow. The Ford team test their cars at their Greystoke forest test track a couple of miles from my house, and I do a little work for them in my retirement (its good to still be involved in some way)

I also am waiting for this being released, if it is befor the group build starts it will defo be my build for it.

Image

Time will tell, anyway sorry for rambling on a bit, but like Chief, I am about to embark on a simple out of the box build to get back into the swing of things, I will post it up in the car section.

Thank you guy's for listening to me going on and on

Those are both awesome, solid, classic F1 cars and kits...good choice
Mine are tucked in there if you look hard enough

Image

I still want the Williams FW07Saudi kit and the Red Bull one. The 1/20's are getting harder to find and so more expensive.
These are what I made as an early teen when I got fed up with Revell and the others poorly designed kits with wheels that didn't turn or steer or even fit. Tamiya was a saviour!!!

Nope, no official build as for yet
We are lobbying for one in 2016. The new sig and GB's get decided on end of the year
But some guys are jumping in and doing a kit to warm up so to speak
So if you got a vehicle to build, start up a WIP and you will have some followers
And welcome to the ISM site btw
