Hi all,
My name is Peter im 32 and I currently live with my Wife Victoria and baby daughter Edith who is 6 months old in a small Village called Marden in Kent near Maidstone.. Been back in the hobby for about 5 years now but have played with plastic on and off when I was a youngster but Life, beer, girls and work got in the way. Which for me was a career in the Army which I served 8 years in the Royal Tank Regiment crewing Challenger 2 MBTs and other Armoured vehicles . Sadly my career was cut short by a IED in Afghanistan in 2009 which resulted due to my injuries being discharged over a year ago since then I have worked in Education working with dysfunctional and special needs children and currently working as Volunteer in local Military museum .
It was while doing my recovery at Headley Court in 2010 that my Occupational Therapist suggested I take up a old hobby to take my mind of what had happened and to get me doing something instead of laying in bed and watching the world go by. I Mentioned about modelling as youngster and getting a Revell Tiger moth from my mum and dad the previous Christmas which inside was a ticket for a flight in one at Duxford but at the time this wasn't to happen so cracked on with the kit over that Christmas period popping over to my local model shop for a few more! . This set it all off again and got me interested in doing something enjoyable even though I was having a tough time and before leaving the Army was diagnosed with PTSD so doing It to kept me busy and not going mad!.
Since then it just got out of hand from building my kits on my parents kitchen table to now having my own 'Man Cave' in my own house.
I mainly do WW2 1.72nd Aircraft but have started to branch out to 1.48th Aircraft and 1.35th Armour which I have a few kits in the stash ready to be built. With the intention of doing them to a high standard with the help with getting tips and idea's from ISM members as i would like to take my modelling to the next level. I have recently bought a H+S Infinity and Sparmax Compressor having watched a ISM review before I purchased it and still trying to master it! But it was good investment and has got me getting more tools and accessories to improve my work and joining my local modelling club lately.
Once I've mastered how to upload pictures and worked my way round the forum I will post some of my work. Please feel free to comment on them and suggest tips and idea on how I can improve!
All the best
Peter

Hi Peter, welcome to ISM and may I just say thank you for your service.
On the plus side, crewing Chally 2's must have been bloody awesome! I have built a few myself, one in the (now replaced) BATUS green/sand scheme and one in an Iraq "what if" scheme of black/green main hull with sand coloured ERA modules.

Thanks for the welcome,
Yeah they were awesome to crew. Got to use them in Germany,Iraq,BATUS and in the UK during my time in the Army.
I mainly build aircraft but im looking at doing a couple of AFV builds and have a 1.35 Chally in the stash with the intention of doing it up as one I crewed as a driver in Iraq in 07 just need to save up for the after market bits as I want to do a good job of it.
