Soo i have a subject. Defenders of Freedom Day.It is a day January 13 in which Lithuania (My beloved country) that celebrates independence day.
An article about January 13 : Defenders of Freedom Day - on 13 June. Lithuania mentioned in a memorial. Raised Lithuanian national flag.

1991 year on this day held massive peaceful resistance of Lithuanian citizens of the Soviet Union's attempt to take power into their own hands the Vilnius TV tower, the Radio and Television Committee building, Parliament building and other public significant objects coup, to take over their control. Occupy came specially prepared heavy military equipment and armed paratroopers group.

The television tower in Vilnius over 600 civilians and unarmed people were wounded, left 14. TV tower was busy, but the military plans to attack the Parliament has refused.

Although seize some objects and managed to end the operation targets (to take parliament to provoke discord among different nationalities Lithuanian citizens, to present these events as two sides of the armed struggle) have not been met, and pretty soon the Soviet army had to withdraw from the occupied objects.

From Wikipedia.

Soo what i have in mind is too build Soviet era-end tanks. Like T-72's , BMD-2's and soo on (I think you would be able to find some items that were used. Not only armor but dioramas also! We had rebels during that time (Partizans) who fought for the freedom of our country against the Soviet forces. They were outnumbered , out gunned but they still fought them for our land , for our people and out freedom. NOTE : There is a movie made about the event that occured on January 13.It is called "We will sing".

There are enough great ideas for years of building! Here are some of my selections from what has already been suggested.

.Natural metal finish

.A Specific Country GB build anything used and in service by that country just like the Japan GB- To this I would add maybe the most iconic (or just biggest!) of what ever vehicle type and period you choose. For example: Jag or Rolls for British car; Mustang or F-86 for US fighter; Bear for Russian bomber; etc.

.Utility vehicles GB pick up trucks, transport aircraft etc

.Eastern European in the 1980's SIG

.fw190

.Mustang

.Korea

.Civilian AC

.Half Track

.Star Trek

.Flight demo AC or team (but not the whole team!)

.Cold War

.Sci Fi movie

.Sturm's idea of OD only! So, a Sherman build! German tanks get far too much coverage.

A Sherman only build would be too limited.I was thinking more of a variety of things, nice it's a Olive Drab GB we could have people building Stuart's tanks, Ford Willys jeeps, Greyhounds,M10s, Thunderbolts and of course Shermans. Basically all the good stuff.

"The mechanical monsters: 100 years of tanks"

Maybe the entry rules could be narrowed down somewhat, but basically any tank(tanks ONLY; no APC's, halftracks, SPG's, etc.) from any nation from WW1 to present day.

You know 2016 marks 100 years since the tank was first used by the British in the Great War, so how about any tank built in the last 100 years.

Actually, I'm glad someone else had this same idea; I'm really surprised it wasn't suggested earlier.

May of 2016 also Marks the 100 year anniversary of the Battle of Jutland - - the only major clash of the doomsday weapons of their day - the Battleship.

So maybe a SIG on Battleships?

Doubt that anything to do with ships would be popular.

I think you're right, but then I love the fact that the SIGs I've taken part in have pushed me out of my comfort zone. I've never built a ship, but would like to try one as part of a SIG, especially as they are such a good way to learn from others on the forum.

OOB build, no extras at all, paint only as per the kit instructions, no weathering etc but you can put your choice of varnish on for decalling and finishing. Paint manufacturer can be different to that specified by kit, IE if building an Airfix kit you can use Tamiya instead of Humbrol.

IMO a GB based around more obscure military vehicles put into service, things that were/are used but no-one really knows about. Of course that'd be incredibly difficult to judge so it's probably not doable, buuut just an idea.

Also I really like the idea of a helicopter GB, partly because it'd give me an excuse to pick up that 1/48 Special Hobby Fa 223
