Post your questions here, there's plenty of Ultimate users (and fans) on the forum, if all else fails, Paul and Lee (the owners of Ultimate) are always lurking around.

Well then, here goes............having never used "Ultimate" thinner before, I'm wondering how it works in conjunction with " Liquitex Airbrush Medium "?
I have begun to use the " Liquitex Airbrush Medium " 1:1 as a thinner for my Tamiya paint through the airbrush, and was wondering how the "Ultimate" would work with the AB medium if I decided to use a bit of extra thinner?, or.......if I should decide to thin with both?

Hope this is not too confusing, but I am just in the process of learning my way through the airbrush, and the myriad of thinning questions/problems that can be encountered :( I'm about to go bonkers reading all the "home brew" solutions and suggestions for thinners, etc. and am trying to land on the best group of products for my likes & uses.

I use solely acrylic paints, as I have asbestosis of the lungs and cannot tolerate fumes. The paints I am trying to learn & use are - Vallejo Model Air, Tamiya and Model Master Acryl (some airbrush use, but mostly brush).

Thanks..........Jim J.

Hi Jim

With Ultimate thinner you don't need to use any other 'medium' what so ever. It's never recommended to mix any thinners as they all have different formulas and may conflict with each other and ruin your paint.

The best advice I can give is - Put the Liquitex to one side. Ultimate Thinner is all you will need as it works with ALL known acrylic modellers paints, a bold, but true claim :th:

On another note, sorry to hear that you have asbestosis, not nice! Be sure to purchase a top of the range extractor fan for when your spraying, you will need it more than most! I can recommend (same as Paul & I use) is the GrahpicAir A300SD, best there is - http://www.graphicair.co.uk/products/Gr ... Booth.html

All the best and good luck :th:

Thanks.........Jim J.

Normally, 50/50. You will find that some tamiya paint is a little thicker than others (your older bottle that's sat open a lot will have had some of the "built in" thinner evaporate) and a few of the colours seem to be thinner from the factor, but 50/50 is the norm and the consistency of skim milk. 15psi also seems to be about the norm, depending on the airbrush brand and needle size. If you are getting a mist to the side of the area you want, thin it a little bit more (as opposed to big splatters, that's build up on the needle and most likely is from stopping the airflow with the needle still retracted, the paint sits and gets added to the new flow when you restart the air), if it's translucent then it's over thinned.
