Well, as Homer has got started, I thought I'd better follow suit.

Box full of bits.

Image

Destructions and extra PE set.

Image

Being a rebel, I didn't follow the instructions, and started with the engine.
Primed up.

Image

And painted with Vallejo metal colour paints.

Image
Image

Then stripped the chrome parts with mr muscle oven cleaner foam. First time doing this. Took about 30 min, maybe another five would be ideal.

Image

Then sprayed with 'chrome'. Hoping to get some heat staining on these, time will tell, lol!

Image

That's it for now guys, thanks for looking in :th: :cheers2:

Quick update, exhausts are done!

Started with clear yellow.

Image

Then some clear red.

Image

And finally clear blue.

Image

Once mounted on the engine, I don't think they look too bad?

Image

So there we are. Onwards and upwards! :th: :cheers2:

That engine looks fantastic!: My exhaust pipes are in silver, not chrome, which is interesting. Looking at pics of the real car they should be a matt silver, no chrome anywhere.

Your pipes do look damn good though! :thumb1:

Cheers buddy :th: the pics I've got look shiny silver but I don't get to use chrome very often so I wanted to shine it up a bit. My instructions call for neutral gray brake calipers, sod that, I'll be painting them a suitably bright colour instead! I only think about accuracy if I know the subject well enough. Which isn't many lol!! :th:

Heat stains on the pipes looks great

How's the build coming along Chief? I'm still plodding along measuring and cutting carbon fiber decals out! :wall:

Plodding along too, lol! I don't have the carbon decals, but there's a s/!t ton of PE going in the cab! As usual, hours of work, never to be seen again, lol!

Cheers buddy :cheers2: :th:

Hey fellas, thanks for the kind comments :th: :cheers2:

Got some more done, but not much to see!

Mounted the engine. Those exhausts are nicely hidden away now

Image
Image

Then I made a start on the discs, 13 parts for each one?! What's that all about?!

Image

Quick as a flash, they're done, ha ha ha ha ....... :bash:

Image
Image

Next up was the cab, only 66 pieces of PE and metal rod in here! Took another age to do, and you guessed it, most won't be visable. I must be a glutton for punishment, lol!

Image
Image

Image

A few bits to touch up, hopefully it'll all come out in the wash, so to speak!

I've put this aside for now, while I decide what to do with the seat. I'd like the upholstery effect of flocking, but can I justify buying it just for one seat? Part of me says 'well, you spent a fortune on PE, so it'd be daft not to', the other half says 'what can I use as a substitute?'.

So that's my dilemma at the mo, first world problems eh?

Thanks for looking guys, see you next time! :cheers2: :th: :th:

This is an amazing build Chief, the heat staining on the exhaust is looking really good, I tried to do it with Tamiya exhaust weathering kit and a little fuel stains, no were near as good as your, and the interior is brilliant, look forward to seeing more.

Hey Chief that interior looks terrific! The PE Discs look a treat and the PE work inside is really bringing yours to life! :th: You are getting ahead of me now lol. I can't do any interior until my carbon fiber sheets arrive
