I've been fairly busy on her the last couple of days.
I ran into a few more little problems.
One that I can't really fix without a big pain in the but and ordering aftermarket parts.
I thought about it and I'm not going that route. I'd have to buy an entire upgrade kit just to get the single part that I need and it's $45.
Not really worth that kind of expense.

So here's some shots of her as I progressed.

Day 1
All dressed up and no where to go.
Wheels on for a photo session.

Image

Image

Image

Image

There were a pain of mould seams here that needed to be removed. This also destroyed the casting texture so I replaced the texture with TET and stippling.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Here is the gun that I replaced to represent the new 75mm S54 gun in game.

Image

Day 2
I added the grab handles to the hull, the front fenders, spare track armour to the glacis, and the lifting lugs on the turret sides.
I also realised that the game turret uses two periscopes where mine has one and a dummy cap.
I didn't have a spare anywhere... so I'm SOL.

Looking good buddy, what fascinates me is that even though we are basically building the same kit, its all the little subtle differences.

Thanks Gupp... Some came out the way that I wanted, some didn't.
I had to go back a tweak a few things.

So yesterday I completed the build. Now it's on to painting.

Last night I managed to get the primer coat on. I used the new Vallejo black primer that I got the other week.
OH MAN!!!! WOW!!!
It stinks a little but no where near what I thought it was going to. I still have to try out my Model Master Acryl Primer but the Vallejo was spectacular. It went on like silk, leveled perfectly, and was a nice soft satin finish. The only negetive thing that I would have to say about it would be that it's a little hard to clean out of the airbrush.
Other than that... SWEET.... HAPPY COEN!
Sorry about the quality of the shots, I had to pull them from the video.
I forgot to take stills before I base coated her... cause I base coated her this morning.
I'll put those shots up once she's dried a bit.

This morning as I had said above, I got the base coat on.
The Vallejo went on so well. I'm considering buy their entire line of Air. WOW!!!
Anyway... there's a couple of new vids up showing all of it, but here are some stills of her all dry.
I've noticed some things that I need to clean up that I couldn't see under the black primer, it's not dead flat like the paint I normally use or I would have caught it.
Either way it's just a bit of touch up.

So here's the pics.

Looking good buddy, just about to watch watch the vid with my lunch :)

I'm waiting for some Vallejo Air stuff to arrive from E-models, ordered the 4BO Russian green set which comes with 4 different greens, satin varnish and a Dark green (almost black) primer. Which should do nicely for my T34's camo, getting their own thinner, cleaner matt and gloss varnishes too. Read/heard/seen so much good stuff about them on here and youtube that I had to give it a go.

Now that I've tried it I wish I had done the same. That stuff is magic.
I just finished the touch ups on mine and she'll be ready for the next phase of painting.
Might be a few days though.
I'll be looking forward to how well yours goes on. It's more specialized so it should look much better.

Tell me about, every time I look at the pictures a part of me screams out "why did I pick that frigging camo" haven't airbrushed anything in over a decade :eeek:

But its gonna be fun finding out if my skills are still up to the task, gonna be a new airbrush/comp I'm using too just to add to the novelty lol

One new tool at a time,
One new paint at a time,
You'll be using two new tools at once then using a bunch of new paints and thinners.

Yeah well it's been so long I'm kinda starting form scratch anyway. needed a comp and the one I ordered came with an airbrush which is lucky cos my aztecs trigger just went pop and now its a bit hard to get a decent consistent flow going - can get it fixed but it means spending money I could spend on paints and other bits, not to mention it has to go to the states and would take ages to sort out, so I'll just give the new one a go lol.
Shame I can't video it properly as it would probably make for quite a funny video, looking forward to it anyway.

These are the latest shots of her as of this morning.
I've softened the maskol chipping in order for me to be able to apply the spounge and brush chipping to the winter camo.
It will be a more complicated affair for the chipping this time because the white camo has to be chipped as well as the paint beneath it.
So that means different colours and layers.

As much as I loved the look of it, I had to bring it back a bit.

And here she is after I lessened the maskol chipping.

Yeah it's perfect and I'll definitely use it again.
It's just too much for this build. I need to practice it more and see how small I can get the chips.

I'll bet that it's more expensive than the Maskol.
