Thanks chaps. Spent about three hours PEing the cockpit front and sides up. Going to be fun trying to fit this lot into the fuselage without pinging half of it off.

Also cobbled up the PE radio box. First PE box I've made, quite easy really.

great start and very nice work on the PE. out of interest what glue are you using as my super glue never seems to hold pe that well, i some times end up using canopy glue...

watching this thread as ive this kit and it will take me forever to make my mind up on the scheme to build it in.

Thanks 48. Know what you mean about the options, I have a Mirage F1 in the stash with ten different marking options, all of them of the 'Ooh that looks nice ' variety! The glue is Vitabond super thin. Nothing special about it really, some of the parts took three or four goes to stick properly. The revelation to me is using an Optivisor for the first time for close up work. I have the 2.5 magnification one and it makes this sort of stuff a lot easier. Still fiddly though!

Cockpit finished and inserted into fuselage. Wings and tailplane on. Some rather large gaps to fill in on the wing roots which surprised me. Might put a bit of strip in there.

Finished cockpit.

Cockpit fitted.

PE rad detail.

Wings fitted, bit of a gap on the left hand wing root.

Model Air 71.001 White lightly sprayed in an irregular pattern over the primer and the bottom was 71.101 Light Blue (RLM 78.)

Thanks RW. I found that if you don't go mad with the paint then the black primer gives you a sort of pin wash effect. The underside hasn't had any pre or post shading or washes, it's just paint over primer but it looks like it's been pin washed which is useful. I might start using black primer more often.
