Airbrush suggestions
Hello,
I am getting back into the hobby after a 20 year break. I have watched all of the youtube reviews of the different airbrushes, but can't seem to make a decision. For a beginner to intermediate tool, what is the best options? I haven't really found a good source in the US yet, so any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Brant

Simple is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Re: Airbrush suggestions
apart from the size of needle you settle on and what you want to spray. It is mainly about what tool you feel comfortable with, which often translates to how easy you find it to use and control.
If you have a local model club you maybe able find some obliging chaps willing to let you try theirs.

Have a look at the ISM youtube page, a few airbrush reviews there. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCERZRn ... iDsORviL-Q .
I too have returned to modelling after a very long lay off and went for the H&S brand and brought a couple of their airbrushes. When you are ready to buy try air-craft.net or give them a ring, Martin there is very helpful and can offer some great advice.

If you're in the states I would recommend looking into the badger patriot or paasche talon, both are great and spare parts are much cheaper and easy to find in the states . I use the patriot about 90% of the time!
If you go with the Harder Steenbeck I use a Colani and would recommend it highly.

Re: Airbrush suggestions
I would recommend a Iwata Airbrush. Starting with one from their lower to mid range brushes.
ie Neo, HP-C and HP-C plus, I managed to pick up a C plus for a reasonable price. They are great to use

Agree 100% on the PatriotJET wrote:If you're in the states I would recommend looking into the badger patriot or paasche talon, both are great and spare parts are much cheaper and easy to find in the states . I use the patriot about 90% of the time!

I have a Paasche double action, siphon feed that I bought years ago, and although it worked well, it is a pain to clean.
Then I got the Paasche single action siphon feed. Again, it worked fine, and cleanup was easier, but I discovered after two that I don't like the hassle of siphon feed.
After reading a few reviews, I settled on trying the Patriot. Gravity feed, double action, and very easy to clean. And as mentioned, great price, and readily available parts. So far, it is working like a champ.

Try http://www.chicagoairbrushsupply.com. They carry a little bit of everything and occasionally run sales of 15-20% on orders over a certain amount (usually around holidays). So far I've had nothing but good luck with them.

I totally agree. I bought my Infinity CR+ from them a while back. Very helpful on the phone if you have questions as well!Diverrob wrote:Try http://www.chicagoairbrushsupply.com. Re: Airbrush suggestions
A very good choice. The bad news: the airbrush is flawless, so when things don't go right, it's you. The good news is it's a skill that develops with experience so you'll always be getting better at it.P51dplt wrote:Thanks for all the input. Re: Airbrush suggestions
Try to search E-bay. I have Iwata Eclipse myself, very very good airbrush, self centred noozle, easy to handle
for a beginner I would recommend you something cheap, Fengda is a good choice. A friend of mine has one and it is quite well for the money

Re: Airbrush suggestions
yes a good pick.... Also when starting off with a good AB with good smooth trigger control, you will love it more and not be so frustrated learning that control.ForbesHutton wrote:A very good choice. I have the solo evolution silverline 2in 1 and a Paarsch vl and a Paarsch talon which is supposed to be their top dog and honestly it does the job ,but I wouldn't buy another. I should have spent the money on another H&S. Although The VL and the evolution is all I really need. The VL was my first brush and I still like and enjoy using it, trigger control isn't as good as the H&S though.

Re: Airbrush suggestions
I own H&S ultra with 0,2 needle and Iwata Neo with 0.35 amd 0,5 needles, i am very happy of those, because i still think that i am beginner airbrusher. For me i have no need to get those expensive versions yet, but that day may still come. So first airbrush can be either of those.
