First build in over 2 years Tamiya DucatI 916

Post by stellamonster »

Hi Lads,

This will be my first build in over two years, and in my new cave

Here we go and try and build the Tamiya Ducati 916, this is my progress so far....

Think its going not to bad, still getting into the swing of building again, but so far so good.
Still got a wee bit of work to do on the engine, I have gave the chain and engine a pin wash just to take the edge of it.

Cheers
Daz

Ok lads an update of my build, Had a long weekend working 12 hour shifts but got back in the cave on monday, made some progress on the engine and frame,

Then started to put the frame with the engine and swing arm

Then made an attempt to do the exhaust by mixing up X11 and X6 and the cans got my first ever Alclad2 polishished aluminium, ok for my first attempt but still need to gain more experience with these paints.

Then tried my hand at exhaust staining : not too happy with the results but will do some touching up to try and tidy them up a bit, the look I was going for was not to crisp and clean but an exhaust that has had a bit of work to do.

Image

Well guys thats the progress so far, back to work tomorrow for a couple of days but off at the weekend and indulge in a wee bit more building and painting,
And please any advice is more than welcome as this is probably the first "serious" build that Ive done.....All comments welcome :thumb1:

Cheers

Nicely done and detailed. Your 'weathering' on the chain, sprockets and engine are awesome :thumb2:

Coming along nicely, that engine looks fantastic as does the rest. May have to pick up another bike to do, but dont know which one i'll do.

Another wee update on the bike, started to put some of the small detail on the bike but not too happy with the decal on the battery, I started to prime the fairings and body but dropped the body on the carpet...aHHHHH!!

Cheers Eric, really enjoying the build, if you fancy doing a bike I would suggest any of the tamiya moto gp bikes, they are great fun to build.
