Photo Etch and Resin for 1:72 Red Arrows Hawk T1A

Post by ElCapitan »

Hi All,

In the not too distant future I plan to build an Airfix 1:72 Red Arrows Hawk, and I'm keen to try out photo-etch and resin parts to add that extra detail.

Has anyone built this model? Could you recommend any aftermarket parts? There are a lot of options on hannants.co.uk but having never used either photo-etch or resin I'm not sure what to go for. Is it worth it in 1:72?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi,
I'm not sure if you would be able to see it in 1/72, especially as it is a small aircraft. However it could be a good kit to practice photo etch and resin, without having to worry about if it will ruin the model.

There is a list on scalemates of available aftermarket for the kit:
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/100250- ... rrows-hawk

I've only ever used Eduard and Aires aftermarket so i cant offer much help there but they were both very good so i would recommend them.

This doesnt have anything to do with your question but if you wanted a big red arrow where you could add a lot of aftermarket and keep it cheap i would recommend the Revell 1/32 red arrow and Eduard do an awesome Big Ed set for it, which includes loads of aftermarket:) The kit its self is about £20 :th:

I hope i've helped in some way!

Thanks for the tip! I think 1/32 would be too big, but I'm considering looking at 1/48 kits instead.
