Hi Paul

Really enjoyed your review of the Yak. I was surprised as well by the lack of detail on the aircraft skins. I had a look at the real thing though and it is pretty bare. Another classic case of simplified engineering for mass production I guess.

Great comparison with the Tempest size wise too. The Tempest really was a BIG machine. Built around the front end of the Tiffy, it was never going to be a small affair!

There's a great reference to the Tempest's size in Pierre Closterman's autobiography. Its when some of his Tempest pilots get into an argument with some Spitfire jockeys. The Tempest pilots call the Spitfires flying midges while the Spitfire boys call the Tempests flying buses. The Tempest guys win the argument by remarking that the their landing speed is greater than the Spitfire's cruising speed! Something that annoyed the hell out of Spitfire pilots, apparently.

:cheers2:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
