Very nice job on the swordfish. That was one of my favorite builds when I did mine. I see you used the photo etch rigging as well. It's a challenging kit. But I think it's an excellent stepping stone to doing a WNW kit. I really want to do the float plane version but that kit seems to be hard to find these days.

That is a lovely stringbag Laurie. It's a kit I've been after for ages, or the 32 Trumpy one.

Welcome buddy, you're gonna fit in just fine

Nice! A couple questions/remarks, if I may.

Is that a torpedo under the fuselage? If so, where are it's propellers and vertical fins? If it is a torpedo, then it's an inert training torpedo with that red warhead.
Also, you would never see a Swordfish or any other aircraft fitted with both torpedo and RP's. It's one or the other.
I also see you've added whatever that is under the rear fuselage. Tamiya screwed the pooch there, as they misinterpreted an image of a RP-armed Swordfish:

Otherwise, an excellent looking build.

Quite frankly not a clue old cock. Built as per instructions and as per photos sent by the RN Fleet Air Arm Museum. Must say as my first publication here I find you have a very aggressive manner which I hope is not all pervasive on this forum !

"Otherwise" thanks for your rather condescending thoughts on the build.

Is it always like this here ?

Sorry. I was not my intention to offend. Some people just like historic accuracy. My bad.

Thankfully it isn't Laurie ISM is probably the least rivet counting forum on the web. I hope you show more of your work. Most of us just build for fun here.

I find it rather disappointing that someone would rivet count in this manner. I built this kit in the exact same scheme you did. I think it's awesome. You can find my post about it. And yes, it is in accordance with Tamiya's instructions. If that modeller doesn't like it, that's his problem. This is a very challenging kit. I would like to see his if he has even built one. I'm sorry that you got such a response for your first entry on this forum. Frankly, historic accuracy is subject to much interpretation anyway. There are exceptions to just about every rule. So, I want you to know that I love this build and don't worry if someone doesn't like it. Folks, let's be positive and help each other. Rivet counting does nothing but destroy mojo.

Hi laurie, what a stunning piece of work !!! All that rigging alone !
Back in the mid 90's i built an R/C version for an elderly gentleman who flew the fullsize way back when (his daughter asked for it for his 90th birthday as a suprise) i remember how tough it was with the rigging at 1/9 scale, i can only imagine the shouting, swearing, tears and screaming with the Tamiya 48th scale !

Again, an absolutly stunning piece of work and oh, welcolm to the forum.
Money is'nt everything but it sure keep's the kid's in touch.

Yes it is daunting but once finished it gives confidence for the next.

The Tamiya model comes with the rigging in PE form. The rigging is not, as may be presumed, steel rope. The rigging consists of steel bars. Oval on the long side about 1.25" * 3/4".

The most difficult part are the wings. To get both sides at the same angle. Plus I put the rigging in. Next morning some had pinged. Wings had drooped. Removed the lot and made the rigging slip into the top wing free of fixing. That fixed it.

If you build this one you will have a go at anything.
