Just started the Kinetic F-16 DG for the fighting falcon's GB. Man is there some faults in this kit!
with my skills being amateur at best, this is going to be a real struggle.

I also have most of them ( no egg though) not brave enough or stupid enough to attempt all, might try pacific ( 1/72 plane) and/or pzr 4,also 1/72, lots of extremely good modellers on here, not sure my efforts warrant a view:((

Gentleman,
I have a serious question about the I Heart Tamiya GB. My question is, can you combine Tamiya kits as long as they are built OOB? Such as the Oil drums kit with a Tamiya kit such as a truck? Or Tamiya soldiers with a Tamiya Panzer? Tamiya weapons, sandbags, brick walls, etc. True, these are Tamiya kits that are being built separate, but are being combined in a diorama type setting. I'm not being a smart ass or am I trying to stir anything up, I'm just curious.

I doubt there will be any dioramas in this GB as there is no scratch building allowed what so ever..
Where does all the bloody time go.....?

Thank you sir. I knew the kits had to be OOB, but I didn't know they couldn't be combined and used in a diorama type setting.

Hi Steve
Not Paul or Lee though but the group builds actually work pretty easy
If youblook at the board index you can scroll down to the group build section
In this section you can see all the current group builds that you can join
If you have a kit for it ofcourse
All the group builds have a subject or theme wich can be anything really
They also have a couple of rules and you can check them if you click on a group build
Then you get 3 options
Guidelines and chat
Builds or build threads
Final reveals
You can find the rules for each group build in the guidelines and chat section
There are about 15 of them each time wich explain what qualifies as a valid entry and what you as the modeller have to do to join and qualify for the prizes that are awarded at the end

Most of the times the rules are fairly open to what you can do
Stuff like scratch building and after market are usually allowed
Except with the I love Tamiya build wich will be a out of the box build meaning you can only use the parts that are in the box
But because the thread for that build is not online yet we as the members don't know all the rules for that one yet
They go online ln the day that a group build starts or like in most cases a few days before it starts

Basicly all you need to do to join is start a buildthread in the buildthread section of a group build
Then you will need to snap some photo's of the sprues as proof that it is a new and unstarted kit
Once you get building you can take photo's of the build proces and use those to make updates
In these updates you can tell all of us what you did if you ran into any problems and if so how you fixed them
And what methods that you used ,stuff like the way you weather the kit and paint it and so on
Finally once you finished your build you can put a thread in the final reveal section
This needs atleast 3 photo's of your finished build
But you can post more if you want and you can add a youtube video if you make videos ,that is up to you as it is not required

And that is basicly all there is to it
It looks like much but in fact it is fairly simple once you get used to it
For tips on how to make these updates and reveals i suggest you look at a couple in the active group builds or in the group build archive where all the group builds are placed once they are over
I hope this helps and if you have some more questions you can put them in this thread and i or someone else will try to awnser them
Cheers,Mark

If I dare answer for them, all you need to do is go to the GB or SiG threads and open a topic in the respective Builds (work in progress) section. Before you post, take a moment to look for a sticky called Chat & Guidelines to make sure you know the rules for that GB/SiG. Some builds are OOB (out of the box--no add-ons or aftermarket) and some are anything goes, and so on.

A GB is indeed a group build
In a GB we build something of a certain but still fairly big subject
Like the From Russia with loce gb we have at the moment where we all (those who join it) build something that was made in and used by Russia or the Soviet Union

A SiG is basicly the same but with a more limited subject matter
As it stands for Special Intrest Group build
Like the F-16 build we had or the shiny stuff sig that we have now
There is the rule that you build has to be in a bare metal finish

I hope this helps
Cheers

There is no entry level for them
If you look at the GB's you will see the work of all kinds of modellers
From the beginners who just started or returned to the hobby to the more advanced builders who have been sniffing up the glue fumes for years
If you join one it is also much easier to get help and tips if you need them because we can see what you are building and there is always a good chance someone has build that kit before and can tell you if there are any problems you should watch out for

Thinking about entering my Academy Catalina into the PTO GB. The overall black scheme would provide an interesting challenge.

At least tamiya bike kits pretty much can be built by just shaking the box!

Hi guys, I've just registered for the forum, and was wondering if you have any upcoming GB's or SIG's involving P47 Thunderbolts, or Tiger1's? Gutted to see I missed the 'shiny thing' build, as I've had Tamiya's 1:48 'bubble-top' in my stash for a while, and have just received a beautiful Eduard zoom set for it. I'm itching to get started, but thought it would be great to build along with other people as I'm a total 'newby' with this technology thing!! ( I've only just recently got access to the Internet and you-tube!! Lol). I hope you can help with this, and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for everything, Paul.

Hi Paul

Have a look at the calendar. Don't think we have anything for either of those two fro the rest of the year. The polls will be up soon to vote on the Sigs and GBs for next year. :)

While walking around RAF Hendon, Tim Andreas and I thought up the "Big Cats" SiG.

Anything named after a cat or with the cats name in the title, any scale, any aftermarket.

So, i.e. aircraft from Grumman (Wildcat, Hellcat,Tigercat,Tomcat, etc) would be eligible. Armour, obviously the normal would apply there, tiger panther etc.

Got it. Good. Gold!
