Kinetic Models 3202 1/32 F 86F 30 CAF "Golden Hawks"

Post by Coen »

This originally was supposed to be an update video, but got taken over by a review of Kinetic Models F-86F-30 CAF "Golden Hawks". haha
Photobombed by a model kit.
Once I opened the book to talk about it... well I couldn't resist.
So you have to watch about half an hour of me blowin sunshine before you see the review.
Sorry about that.

Great video mate. Kinetic kit I've heard are really good but don't quote me on that I've never built one but that looks a great kit and for what you paid outstanding value for money.
The canopy I've never come across that it one but then I've never done one in that size klear might fix it but ask Paul 1st he might have a better idea.
And I saw a light bulb come on when you realised what that lead was for I was laughing so hard I nearly dropped my phone lol.
Really really looking forward to watching you build this for the GB and doing a diorama if you do I think you could really pull it of just use some fuse wire for the plumbing and with the detail in the air brakes they would look great with them open.
And the books look great you should be able to use some if the info in them for the sabre.
Again great video keep it up mate aslong as your doing them you've got a watcher in me.

Really enjoyed the vid. The kit looks like a up scaled Academy one. Even the box art looks close to one.

Maybe it is.
It's possible it's a rebox. I have no idea.
I was completely spontaneous with this buy. (I never do that) :eeek:
I saw the subject and thought why not... never did any research into the kit at all.
Normally that is a massively stupid thing to do and I would deserve a complete lemon for my trouble.
Not this time. :D

That looks an awesome kit for $40, looking forward to seeing that built mate.

It's surprising how big jets actually are compared to prop planes :th:

Wait till you see what I've got coming to me in 1/32 ;) and it was a bargain too :th:

Not sure yet Shane.
It's a possibility. It's got all the bits to make a good one I think.
Very tempting. I'll need to think about it. Do a little research.

There can be only one!
Unless your building two, or three, or four - ah to hell with it.

Aluminum and ... wait for it... dark aluminum. haha.
I figured that it wasn't going to need much more than that.
I will only be able to paint it on a day when my wife and kids are out and I can open the windows and turn on my exhaust fan.
Stink to high heaven Dude... makes your eyeballs fall out. :eeek:

An few key things

Get the bare plastic as good as you can as any blemishes show though like you wouldn't believe.

Prime with gloss black base

Once dry take it back (sand) slightly with micro mesh in various grades getting finer as you go (as a minimum 2500grade wet and dry will do) with a little water.

Repeat the above step.

Once your happy do the same with the aluminium colour sanding back between coats, until your happy to decal and then gloss coat (the alclad gloss klear is very good too)

Spray in very thin misty coats.

You seen me spray it on the last corsair vid to give you an idea what I mean.

You know there's not much difference between that and the methods used to do up a car build.
Looks like I need to get some micro mesh. I've never had a use for it before.
Thanks Paul. Ingest to learn a few new skills. :cheers2: :th:
