Ivan's Zombie Diorama

Post by NorthernModeller »

So I got another plan, and with only about 3 weeks to finish I should be fine ;)

I am planning a pickup truck on the highway, it has pulled over to discover abandoned car with what looks like supplies in, next to the highway is a field with a cow being eaten by zombies, there are two survivors next to the truck.

This is the abandoned car I bought

Image

So first I am starting with the Meng pickup truck as the other supplies have not been delivered yet.

Image

The kit is really good but has large ejector pin marks and a bit of flash

Strewth! I'd think twice about taking that on without a three month run up let alone three weeks!

Hope you pull it off though because that's a great concept!

So jumped ahead a bit with this one :) got the interior painted and dirtied up, got the blue paint down and got some scratches, scuffs and dry mud applied, wet mud is next. Also got the wheels washed ready.

well the concept is coming together, but the previous truck that I had built will no longer be used and I will be using the Toyota Hilux instead. with only ( days left I have a lot to do. I also have a lot of work to do on the figures

and yes, ignore the coffee stain ;)

"Everything I try is just not working"

That is a quote from you last night and a bit distressing as it is waaaay too negative a mindset for someone so talented.
I Battle with the perfectionism and negativity myself :shifty:

I really like the set up you have in mind for this dio :thumb2:
If this is the plan for your diorama, it doesn't matter how much it costs, just get to it and get it done.
Focus on finishing what you have and not buying anything else to try to make it better or easier...that is a fool's game.
Do a sub assembly , then another and keep plugging along putting those pieces together. When one thing is drying, crack on with another. One figure at a time mate, bit by bit, little by little and it will build up itself.
A wise JohnJ on ISM gave me that tip when my mojo was sinking. He said just do a little bit every time you sit at the bench....kind of like the joke How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

You have a bit of a schedule stress, but quite honestly it doesn't matter when you finish at all....just finish. You will be proud of yourself.

Give yourself some positive thoughts as you are a great modeller. Sounds corny but good vibes and thoughts really do bring good results. Negative thinking brings negative results. I have seen what you can do in other builds, you have the skills.
Focus on finishing this and not buying something else or distracting yourself into another project or purchase
I am rooting for you, bud :cheers2: and watching
Best of luck

Thanks mate, your words of wisdom and encouragement mean a lot :) I am my own worst enemy/critic when it comes to modelling, to me if my work does not look perfect, then I wont be happy. Its a gad awful mindset to have

It is a continuum. Moving toward the best you can do, striving to get better
There is never a perfect, everything has its flaws
But you have to finish even if you find you don't like the way it turns out so that you can learn...giving up isn't learning it is quitting. Mistakes are the greatest teachers if you can listen and learn from them

I am like super phylisophicalogical and stuff

And here I was thinking I'd just dump some dirt into a dish and call it a day. Amazing work, even the coffee. Keep at it, seems to me you win far more than you lose with your builds Ivan, listen to Scott.

Really kicked myself in the arse with this one and cracked on, the cow is very nearly done and the zombies have received a skin base coat ready for painting, the road and mud has been done with the AK diorama series of products and road markings sponged on with andrea paint

Yeah that steak definitely looks a little underdone for my tastes!

Great to see this coming together Ivan it's really taking shape well - hope you nail it.

All I can add to Obi Wan TwoKid's wisdom is something that another wise man once said to me (and it's definitely stuck because this isn't the first time I re-posted it)

You've really got the cows 'dead meat' colour spot on mate.

Really like the road surface too. I've got something in mind that involves a road and I was tossing up whether to do a cobbled road using cork, or an asphalt road done with sandpaper.

I've changed me mind now after seeing your work. How much of the 250ml pot of AKs Asphalt did you use?

thank you :) for this road I did not even use a 1/4 of the bottle, it goes a long way and will last a good while, same with the mud. amazing stuff
