Paul's 1/25 Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino "striped tomato"

Post by Paul »

So i was very kindly bought this by my buddy bret as a christmas present so though it time i built it.

Building it out of the box, no extras bar the ht leads. Looks to be a good kit, I've reviewed it and will be doing at the bench updates on it too.

The engine built up quickly and i pointe did my own version of ford blue :wtf: and added the HT leads (and yes i know they're not in the correct firing order)

The chassis etc were painted in alclad black primer, the exhaust n My hobby super metallic iron

The interior (which is pvc in real life) was sprayed in Ultimate primer, then once dry i sprayed over it with tanya semi gloss clear.

The body has been sanded with 6000 micro mesh to remove any seams etc (they were none really) then primed in alclad White primer. Im waiting on the colour matched ford bright red to arrive too

More cool stuff
I can just picture the guy sliding across the hood before he got in...must have scratched the heck out of the paint

Pfft...then what's the point of watching this one any more...

...nah, just kidding. I loved this car growing up and can't wait to see the paint go on. :thumb1:

well, I can say as I was scrolling down the pictures, one photograph really got mu attention in a big hurry. The car looks great. Having been a street rodder, it is a very good representation of the vehicle used in the show. There was one car who did that to his in real life. I can truthfully say, yours looks much better.

So back onto this today, got it decaled up, which was an easy task as the decals were great quality. I then used the Mr hobby Gx100 clear which is amazing stuff, 3 -4 coats first with a mist coat then building it up, lastly a mist of pure levelling thinner and bam.

Lovely shineon that Paul. As a newbie to this hobby anyone who has never ventured into the field of cars. What Aretha tamiya compounds etc used for? Sorry for what is possibly a stupid question.

Cheers
