Tamiya F-16 Aggressor part 2

Post by Paul »

Tamiya 1/48 F-16C Block 42 Aggressor now finished, this will be paired with my Alaskan Aggressor and displayed at telford on the Ultimate Stand as shown in the last few pictures. These are great kits that go together very well and in very striking schemes. The black white one was build out the box, the blue grey with alot of added aftermarket. The Ultimate modelling products Dark dirt wash worked brilliantly on panels lines and details.

what's on the left wing? Is not a sidewinder, would you know?

Cheers buddy heres a little info on the ACMI pod

Range-less ACMI training systems provide fast-jet aircrew training in air to air, and air to ground operations and tactics. The system is untethered meaning it does not require the use of ground stations to track aircraft position; instead the system uses GPS technology to track and record aircraft position.

The ACMI training system uses Aircraft Instrumentation System (AIS) pods. These pods attach to an aircraft missile launcher and are powered by the aircraft's onboard power. Each pod is a complex array of modern avionics, electronics, and computer systems. It contains state of the art air data sensors, inertial manoeuvring unit, computers, radios and flight recorder systems. The pod uses data from these sensors and a GPS receiver to record aircraft flight parameters.

That's awesome looking F-16 Paul, that camo scheme is very dramatic compared to the regular gray stuff.

They look Great Paul. Did you use the Tamiya's curve tape as well on the second Aggressor? And your rite Ultimate's new dark dirt really gives it that Brilliant look.

I live right beside Shaw, which houses 3 fighter squadrons of F-16's. Everyday, I see (and hear) the F-16's all the time.

As usual Paul your work is outstanding. I've always been meaning to ask you, do you use polishing compounds on your canopies. They always seem brilliant. Also, your recent photos are fantastic. They look like a modeling magazine.

Ill only polish them if i think it needs it, this one had seam line so they were polished with Ultimate sanders then the buffer (which does most of the work) then some tamiya compounds

I had to do the same thing on the Tamiya 1/32 P-51 as well as application of Tamiya's pollishing compounds. I've been using them the last couple of builds and they seem to work pretty well.
