Looking good. Still cant look at the model without seeing and hearing the film / series :th:

Just asked the same question on FB, what was the casevac set up on the Bell? Was it benches on the skids?
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Just saw the update on Facebook! Nice work. Now you just need to build all the figures and vehicles racing to the landing pad to collect the wounded. That should take another few hours to finish...

Looking excellent! You could go for the "subtle" approach and have "Hot Lips" debussing as per the film version...

Gonna have to ask - what is this Future stuff"?? Yet another development I am not familiary with. :(

The build is looking excellent though - really, really impressed at how it has turned out. Will you be making the head shields for the stretchers that protect the casusalties heads in flight??

Future is a floor wax. Been around since like the 60s. It works great as clear gloss seal. It also does quite the trick on canopies. You can get it at Walmart. Its not called Future anymore though. This is the stuff you want:

      Image

Make sure to check the SKU on back. It has to be 465000018 or it wont be the right stuff. This is the only formula of it that works for modelling.

Many thanks :) Don't think we have Walmart in the UK - but we do have CostCo so I will have a nose in there on the next bacon run. :) I assume it goes on after painting the details in ??

The correct stuff has a milky yellowish look - in fact it looks like Alclad Aqua Gloss. And you can put it through your airbrush too - just don't tell anyone about it. :?

North American Vs UK Future/Pledge whatever the heck it is called are all different. My bottle looks different than those posted.
They change formulations and packaging like we change underwear...some of us.
I think this is a big reason of such dissent for it.
There are some decent model specific clears and I have a few, but I do like the ease, simplicity and price of it.
Then again, I like Nickleback too ;)

Handle worked well for holding during dry fits and pics.
Also very good for dipping in clear and as a holding stalk for drying.
Canopy is now white glued into place

Curious question, when it comes to future, do you spray it or brush it on? And if you spray it, do you need to thin the stuff. I wanna do a Hind chopper at some point in my building future and want to use it on the canopy glass when I do.

You can either spray or brush
For canopies it is far better to dip it or run it all over the canopy, letting excess flow off and touch edges with a paper towel
This will give a smoother finish than aerosolizing it into rough little bits with an a/b
It does not need to be thinned if sprayed. 90% I brush it or dip.
I have the AK Gauzy clear as well. It is a nice big tub but it forms bubbles like a bugger and it is thicker than my Future.

The stuff I used to use was the consistency of water. Milky off white in colour and OK to spray through the airbrush for gloss coating without any adjustment. For canopies, what Scott says is best, dip - don't spray.

I used Future when I restarted the hobby, purely on the grounds of cost. I use aqua gloss now, which is better, but it costs more. Mind you it seems to go a bloody long way too.

KalebB wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2020 4:18 pm Curious question, when it comes to future, do you spray it or brush it on?

The modelling man who shall not be named here...starts with an F and ends in a lory....did a video on Future in the UK
You might want to seek that out.
Yours is milky, mine is clear. They dry the same

So we are in the home stretch

I love making a base for a model as it really finishes it off. I especially like using stuff I have on hand at home and purchasing as little as possible. Certainly some prefab grass bits are nice and the roll of grass mat very helpful.
All the wood and the wall putty was squirreled away by me during the house build

If only there was some kind of sign to tell me when I am done...

Yes, it needed to be done
But I could NOT put two Seoul signs on it, that was just redundant and stupid
Plus I didn’t have the length on the pole

I give it a 11..... Yea I know the scale only goes to 10 but think of Spinal Tap and I turned it up to 11 :th: :th:

AWESOME job Scott. The copper looks sweet, the work on the plywood. I like the black. Thanks for the tip on Future!! I do remember using Future on the floors in the barracks and paste wax. I have not used this stuff since the 70's...
Love the sign. I do remember that from the show. LOL on the twin Seoul
