Tamiya 1/48 P-51B Mustang

Post by Dancooper01 »

Hi,
New member here posting my first build.
I usually build static model ships but wanted a change, here’s my first effort.
It’s clumsy compared to most on here, I need to refine my airbrush technique, and the weathering is overboard but I was enjoying using the new products !

Nice first build post. Very tidy Mustang, gotta love a P51.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Welcome! Very nice mustang. If your weathering is heavy, it sure doesn't show in the photos.

Show us your ships!

Here’s a cutter I built earlier this year, I usually work in wood.

Very cool! the rigging must really take a steady hand. Does this involve sewing the sails?

The sails are pre cut and lightly stitched across.
I have to stitch around the edges, enclosing a rope that attaches to the rigging to keep them taught.
The rigging can get very time consuming on these projects.
You’ll probably notice that the top jib at the front is incorrect, the sail pattern is out by 90 degrees. I corrected after this photo !

Belated welcome to the forum.

That Mustang is a really nice first build and the clean detail on the ship looks great - lovely work :cheers2:
