How do U straighten long thin plastic parts (ie. masts).

Post by RobRomero »

I bought this vintage "USS Long Beach" on Ebay with bent styrene masts.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-16-U-S ... 2749.l2649

Any tips/suggestions on how I could straighten them?

TIA & happy holidays!

Show a pic, like to see how bad it is

You could:
*heat in warm water and reshape them
*take sprue and stretch it and make a new mask

I would not suggest direct heating the mask with a flame or you will melt it and the propensity for FUBAR is high

Thanks,

The pictures were in the ebay listing link I posted if you scroll down. I tried the hot/boiling water technicque and though not perfect was able to strighten out the mast considerably.

Thanks!
