Anyway, I had a thought that I could also attach a fine diamond lapping plate (1200 grit) using the same magnets whereby the rapid movement would speed up it's cutting action making the job less tedious. I also had some worn nippers in need of some tlc to try on the thing. I used some alcohol based thinner as a lube and gently pressed the (closed) blades against the plate and used a gentle rocking motion. Result was a nicely ground face which, whilst not perfect, was much better than it was. I tried something similar years ago to sharpen wire cutters by using the side of a fine 8" grinding wheel but it's very easy to lose control of the cutting action and ruin the tool. Less of a danger with this method.
