It was a German multi-purpose seaplane that developed into the standard catapult on-board aircraft for capital ships and the most important float plane in Germany during World War II. (Fun fact: The painting corresponds to that of the aircraft on board the cruiser Prinz Eugen - the ship was used as a test object in the atomic bomb tests in Bikini Atoll after the war)
