Looking to get back into the hobby.

Post by SOREN »

I've been away from the hobby for quite a few years and now seems like a good time to get back to building models. I'm about ten years from retirement, the kids all have their own lives and are out of the house. Plus my job has sane working hours and I have most evenings and weekends free to enjoy some quiet time at the hobby bench. Besides I'm not that good at golfing.
So hello to you all and hopefully I will have pics and or videos to share in the near future.:cheers2:

Welcome to the board. I returned to the hobby a couple years ago after being away for about 20 years.

What subjects are you interested in modeling?

I look forward to seeing your build threads. Don't be afraid of posting them up. As the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy states, we're mostly harmless.

Hey awesome time for you to rejoin modelling
We can help you to hone some new skills and get into modelling again. I am telling you, it is full on amazing what is out there and available. Modelling has grown tons and with the Internet the world is open to you
If you post into the forum, ask questions and participate here, you will get tons out of it and avoid hopefully some pitfalls that burn people out. You will get only help and assistance on the forum; no jerks allowed.
Learning Flickr to host your pics helps and Neil from the UK will be along in a bit to give you the intro post that helps direct you for that
If you need anything, you are welcome to pm me
Once again, hello and welcome

Hello Soren and :welcome: to the ISM forum.

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but as Scott already mentioned in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We're also running a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of and we'll soon be looking for ideas for next year's subjects so feel free to chip in there too.

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil
