Inexpensive tap and die tool for modelling

Post by Twokidsnosleep »

I got an email from micro-mark tools this morning
They have a cool assortment of modelling tools and a micro tap and die set caught my eye…$85USD
I thought, no you can get a way cheaper super small set for less than that…a jewellers set from Amazon,

I use mine quite frequently on brass or styrene to make threads externally and internally

Super useful inexpensive tool I thought I would pass along

I've spotted those before , but have never needed a set for armour or aircraft. Perhaps it's a car or bike related mostly ?

For soldering these have their uses. It will not conduct heat and doesn't become a heat sink and solder doesn't stick to it.

Oh I like that tool
I didn’t realize titanium wasn’t a heat sink
It freaking sparks like crazy when I cut it with a dental drill

God no, wouldn’t want to hit a titanium implant
We these temporary titanium towers we connect to the implant and make an acrylic temporary with. So I have to shorten them and cut with a carbide drill. Sparks city.
I ground down the lawnmower blade this morning for sharpening and had some pretty good sparks of steel flying at me too
