U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D | AMT | 1:2500
My entry for the 2022 Summer Sci-Fi SiG is the Start Trek: The Next Generation U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D in 1:2500 scale by AMT. I grew up watching "TNG" and I have always wanted to live in that world! I am hoping to get started on this kit this weekend.

I grew up watching the original NCC-1701 - before they started adding letters on the end. Oh that is awesome
Big fan of STNG, more so than the original and the ones that followed after TNG.
Patrick Stewart is the reason I suppose.
Been watching snippets of the Pickard series on YouTube as I cannot find it anywhere else in Canada

This is my favorite Enterprise.
AMT released one in a larger scale years ago. I wish it would be re-released. I spent hours in front of the tv with the opening sequence of the show paused so that I could paint the windows lit or dark like the ship on the show. That's when I made the realization, that turned out to be true, that there were two different models used on the show.
I screwed up. The model lived on top of a tall bookcase. It got rotated over a halogen lamp and melted. I was heart broken.
Enjoy your build!

Re: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D | AMT | 1:2500
Actually got some time yesterday to do some building!
I can honestly say I was disappointed when I first got this kit. Only 9 pcs (not counting the base) make up this thing.

There wasn't a lot of flash but the sprue gates were HUGE! I pushed on building.

I stopped here in order to get everything primed and painted. I am still looking into what would be the best color.
Thanks for looking!

Don't AMT recommend a colour in the instructions?

They do but its just a colored in square. No actual color call outs.

You can get an app for your phone called "Hobby Color Converter" that will let you scan that square and will suggest a match or matches from various paint manufacturers. I use it fairly often.
Don't know if that will help you??

Re: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D | AMT | 1:2500
I hadn't realised that the parts count was so low on these!
I did a bit of digging on the base colour and it looks to have been RAL7040/FS36375 although it does appear to have evolved through the seasons & into the movies.
Hopefully you can find a match for those colours in your chosen brand (the colour matcher in the modellers toolkit might help)
Anyway it's looking great and very tidy... and actually I'm wondering if that Ultimate grey might work as the base colour

Thanks! I do have FS36375 in Mission Models so I might try it out. It will definitely be a good 10 foot model!
