Yeah I’ve been watching adam do the upgrades on his massive razor crest and it was that build that spurred me on to build mine 👍

Right then people update time on this revell razor crest where to start it looked good in the box is probably the most honest thing I could say about it, some of the details are amazing and look really really good then there’s the slight fit issue with the front where the cockpit is admittedly it’s all fixable with a bucket of patience, the interior is a bit bleeeeehhhhhhhhgggggggg and you don’t really see any of it if everything is closed up like I plan on doing, for a brand new tool it has a ridiculous amount of flash that shouldn’t really be there the quality control is definitely up to tamiya standards which I shouldn’t be surprised when it comes to revell 🤨 but moving on from all the downside’s it does turn into a model that actually looks like the thing it’s supposed too and while there is some details in the cockpit I’ve chosen not to paint it as I plan on having it displayed on the stand in flight and plan on tinting the windows so negates the need for painting the cockpit 🙃 so I will put maximum effort into the outside paint scheme yes I know most of it is some sort of silver I do plan on doing a few different shades to get some interest going on instead of a big silver thing, I have yet to do a test fitting of the glass to see how bad the fit is but that’s this weekend’s mission, I will say I’m kind of looking forward to painting it to see where I can take it, in summary if you’ve got one of these in your stash save some patience for it if you don’t but want one then try and wait for the amt variant as I’ve heard it’s better than the revell kit, so I suppose I better put some pictures up of the offending kit

There will be more updates as soon as the painting starts but I have another kit in the spray booth first so will be a few days but hopefully it turns out ok
Thanks for looking till the next update 👋👋

Nice start ! May be the flash Is because they're is a rumor that's it's not totally a new tool... I saw you tube video where I guy was putting sprues of other revell kits that were exactly the same use in the Razor Crest. But don't believe everything on the internet ! :eeek:
It's huge and nicely detailed !

So update time again and it’s all been primed in Ultimate black with a coat of nail varnish mirror silver over the top I’ve not gone heavy with the silver as I didn’t want it mirror but it’s a great colour over black primer, I do plan on doing some of the different panels in different silvers to break it up a bit and give it some different variations so it doesn’t look to blocky now I’m going to leave it a day or two to cure properly so I can mask on top, still loads to do but makin great progress 🙃

Some more done to the razor crest over the last few days/week I’ve done some panels in different metal paints to try and break up the full on shiny shiny they are all tamiya lp range and I’m liking it so far, I think I’m go into place the decals on and then take another look to see if I need to add more or just leave it and start the weathering process which will probably be the hardest bit as making a metal finish look good weathered is a bit tricky but time will tell🥸
Now for some pictures Image

Hopefully after the decals go on it’ll reveal which direction I need to go in so until the next time

Some more has been done to the razor crest but not as much as I would have liked due to trying to make the kitchen in the house twice the size by knocking a wall through to give the wife what she want and as we all know a happy wife means a happy life Image
But back to the razor crest and with modelling time being limited the last couple of days all that has been done is the decals on and the rear engine nozzles painted in a copper colour it’ll be toned down a bit when I start the weathering,I’ve also tinted the glass as I’m not doing the interior so I decided to go with a gold tint as I think that’s what you would need in space (that and it’s my model lol) but I think doing it in a dark colour would have made it look a bit too toy like and we don’t want that now do we 🤪

Kitchens are big projects and I think you did very well to keep the dust down to such a low level. Either that or you did a very good job of cleaning up.
Gold was a good choice and I'm sure I wouldn't have thought of using that colour. :th: :th:

Update time and this week with time being a bit limited because of kitchen renovations and how damn hot it’s been all the I’ve managed is the start of the weathering after a liberal coating of aqua gloss it got a lathering of Ultimate earth wash all over the rubbed back to leave a nice filthy look the it had another coat of aqua gloss to seal it in then the engine nozzles had some citadel copper paint (can’t pronounce the name) then some ak true metal brass and blue steel then rubbed that with a cotton bud (cue tip) to blend it all together to try and make it look a bit like it’s actually done some miles or whatever they call it in space 🤔 the nozzles also had some Ultimate winter wash on the inside to make it look like it’s had a high temperature burn like the space rockets have and I think I’m on the right path with the look I still have some more weathering to do but that’s for the weekend when hopefully it’s cooled down a bit 😅
