That's such a shame that the crappy tracks have let this down :(

Could you resurrect it as an abandoned job in a scrap yard type dio?

I think what Im gonna do is keep looking for the tracks until I can find them for less than 135.00 or so. I really was enjoying the kit until this point.

OK, not sure if this will show up in the feed or not. LOL

I have been looking for tracks off and on this whole time. It has been irking the F%^&* out of me. I couldnt find them anywhere here in the states. And nothing less than 70.00 with shipping from across the pond. UNTIL...

I was reading a thread about sagging rubber tracks and someone mentioned just get the metal tracks direct from Fruil. DIRECT FROM FRUIL. My dumb a$$ hadnt thought of that. So, shipping included, 38.00 bucks for the set. *sigh* When they get here, everything else goes to the side and I will finish this.

OK, so between bouts with the U2, I am putting the tracks together. I am actually enjoying these. A MUCH better design than the kit ones. One track down and initial paint on it and the second track about half way. The kit calls for 43 links per track. The Fruil set has a good 10 extra, so there should be plenty for adjusting.

And these need to be tight. No sag in any pic I have seen of these dozers.

Excellent result with the Friul tracks, not cheap but so realistic and easy to build. :thumb1:

I'd have to disagree with you about the track sag. They do have a hydraulic tensioning system so that it is easy for the operator to maintain proper tautness, but as time goes on the track/drive sprockets do wear and they do sag.
They is also a slight difference in the models, some have a top idler and some don't and that changes the look. I'd say though if you were going with a newer tracks then tight is right.

Thanks Neil. :) I am rather pleased now.

Got the driver side hand bars and lights and what not on. Intake and exhaust. Both sets of tracks and fixed the mistake on the first set on. Almost ready to do the blade.

The build string is really fun to read. Your modeling skills are top notch. And you can't complain about the results either.

    Waiting for the next update.
