My chin is aching from where it keeps hitting the floor. Those cannon look superb all roped up like that, stunning stuff.
Cheers guys, thanks for commentingaur0ra145 wrote: Thu Jan 04, 2024 1:27 am Looking good! Your cannon video popped up on my youtube feed. It really shows just how small a lot of these parts are, very impressive.

I am so sorry to have missed the question, my apologiesaur0ra145 wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2023 6:18 am The rigging is looking amazing! Is there a point where you need thinner metal pieces for the scale?
Hats off on learning all of the rigging and sails names. There seem to be hundreds of them.

I had to posh the base up, nearly dropped the damn thing again off the support…twice!

Absolutely, good ideadigger303 wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:28 am The pins...could you just put them in a mini drill and lay a fine file close to them. Might be enough to just round them off ?

The collective brain power of two 4 star generals! Getting the job done boys! As a mere Colonel, this is damn near inspirational.Twokidsnosleep wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:55 amAbsolutely, good ideadigger303 wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:28 am The pins...could you just put them in a mini drill and lay a fine file close to them. Spinning always gets things the most true
Just need a fine enough collet to grab it….Been thinking of that issue

They are very nice. Super smooth no chunks at all. Not crazy expensive if you shop around.Stokesy44 wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2024 7:49 am Excellent work. I may have to try those oils. Mine are very slow drying if applied with any depth.

Cheers, thanks for the info. I use the cardboard trick too, drawing all that oil out...Twokidsnosleep wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2024 3:08 pmThey are very nice. Super smooth no chunks at all. My W&N oil collection is probably pushing 20 yrs old mind you passed along from my mkm’s painting stuff after she died
I dispense oil paint on to a bit of cardboard as a palette so it sucks out any extra oil. That makes it dry faster

For some crazy reason they are cheaper than buying oils at a artist shop.Twokidsnosleep wrote: Mon Jan 15, 2024 3:08 pmThey are very nice. Super smooth no chunks at all. Agreed! I just got to spend another week in the hospital. I haven't been able to do any scale modeling because my hands shake so badly . I have been able to design how I'm going to paint the bead lock rims on my 1:1 jeep and came up with a way to indicate where the valve stem is, mostly while half asleep. Maybe not a good thing but I'm liking the asymmetrical, individual paint scheme for each rim and then a painted flag on the spoke where the stem is.Twokidsnosleep wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 12:19 am![]()
Funny what lying awake in bed not falling asleep will let you think of
I was brainstorming why my brass didn't look right until I thought of the ring seat being a separate piece added
Then brain went through various methods to make that ring seat
