Finished Photos of 1/1000 Scale Metal Skeleton Graf Zeppelin Airship Kit

Post by Phillip1 »

Fellow Modelers,

Below are construction and finished photos of Aerobase’s 1/1000 scale metal skeleton Graf Zeppelin (LZ127) Airship kit. My son got this for me as a present this past Christmas and I decided to go ahead and knock it out. I spent about eight hours building it over a three day period. All the parts went together extremely well and the engineering is first rate. The only tools required were metal clippers, tweezers, sandpaper and a little Superglue. I will say some experience working with photo-etch is a must. The overall length is 9”. It built into a really intricate and cool looking display. Enjoy the photos!

Very nice! I've always been a fan of PE model kits. Recently I was going to but a 1/48 Jasmin F6F-5 Hellcat PE aircraft kit. Looking at your build makes me want to pull the trigger and get it to build. You did a splendid job on it....

Garion77/Drums01/digger303/aur0ra145-Thank you very much for the compliments! I did want to try something a little different. On the up side there is no painting, decaling or filling seam lines with these kits. Also when it is finished and you place the assembly (with its chrome metal finish) against a solid white background it looks fantastic. The Aerobase kits seem to be superior to the Metal Earth bend-and-fold kits commonly sold in hobby and craft stores. You just have to have some sharp metal clippers and be comfortable with photo-etch.

Stunning kit. Such a brilliant idea for a model because it looks beautiful without the skin on.

Superb effort on your part too
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.
