Dune Sand Crawler 1985

Post by DBMiller »

I finished a kit. :eeek:

..I know, I know - what happened to the real DBMiller?
But, here it is: the sand crawler from David Lynch's 1985 Dune.
..I bought it last October at a model show. I started it this October (despite having so many unfinished kits already) and finished today. No build thread. No announcement that I was building it. I just needed something to show myself I could still do it.
..As I said, it's from 1985. The fit is mostly OK, but, some parts (the big wheels) are less than OK. The plastic is the most brittle I've ever encountered. I broke the canopy frame three times - once just getting it off the sprue and twice trying to fit the glass. I also tried to show sand build up in some areas but couldn't figure out how to show very dry sand. Anyway, there is sand. And I still suck at weathering.
..This isn't a build thread but I did want to show the box and how few parts there are in the kit.
