Hosting Changed!

Post by bfrd »

Ok, we are up and running on the new host. There are a few wrinkles that I still need to iron out and I am sure we will see some oddities in the next few days. Please let me know what you find and we will take care of them. I have re-enabled posting.

It's working a treat, no issues that I've come across. Top job Matthew  :th:

Thanks everyone. It has been an eventful time. I couldn't be more pleased with the process and performance of the site. I am most impressed with how well searching responds now. It used to be terrible, practically un-useable. Now you can hardly tell a search took place. Near instant results!

Things are are lot smoother now - well done!

One question - which is probably me screwing up somewhere - when I used to log on to the old site the first screen I got was all the latest posts by time of posting. That doesn't appear any more???

I apologize for the lengthy downtime. The site wasn't unavailable that long when I did the migration. The version update went poorly. All should be ok now.

We're just grateful its here mate. I'm no Tecky but I reckon you've handled the changeover superbly.

Many a time have I heard the phrase, 'the update went in last night, that's why nothing works this morning' so I think you're well ahead of the game.

The fact that this cutover has happened as smoothly as it has is a testament to the planning & prep you must have put in mate.

The new site is running phenomenally well, and tbh I hadn't realised just how laggy the old version was getting until you switched us over. The general response (let alone searching) is a vast improvement :th:

Email notifications should be back on. Currently, they are coming from globalscalemodeller@gmail.com. I hope to change that to use our new domain name, but that isn't quite ready yet. If you don't start seeing your normal notifications, please let me know.

I might just be imagining things but I think my modelling skills may have increased as a result of this.
