1/48 Revell F/A 18-E Super Hornet

Post by Coen »

My impromptu box review of Revell's 1/48 F/A 18-E Super Hornet.
Not too bad of a kit.
At least in my opinion.

Wow Coen, I have to say I always like watching your reviews and from the parking lot is priceless. I have always considered Revell kits to be a little soft on detail but this may be improving. That's a good price to for the size of the kit. I worked on F-18's a few years ago while on active duty (A, C, and D models). The F-18E / F are really entirely new aircraft being almost 25 % larger than the legacy F-18's. The US Navy and the Aussie AF are the current large scale users of the Super Hornet. I believe the aircraft the RCAF fly are based on the F-18A model. As for the canopy, F-18's do not have explosive det cord mounted on the inside to aid in ejections. During ejections the entire canopy and frame are blown off by explosive bolts in the sill. I will look and see if I still have any reference material lying around that I could share. Best regards, Doug :cheers2:
