A Scottish Hello

Post by ThunderLizard »

Hello,

My name is Colin and am from Glasgow. My interests are motorcycling, video games, cinema, music, football, and hopefully from this day forward model making :th:

Basically I got a Tamiya 1/12th scale Honda RC211V for Christmas from the wife. Anyway i haven't built any models in the past, so i decided to do a little research online. I came across you're youtube site and really enjoyed the presentation/approach and enthusiasm you guys have for modelling.

I am a complete beginner when it comes to modelling so I have a lot to learn. The kit I have seems of decent quality and I really want to give this a good attempt. So any pointers from you ISM forum guru's would be appreciated.

Hi colin welcome to ISM, you won't go wrong with a tamiya bike kit they are top draw kits. Just take your time and read and re-read the instructions. I also find it best to build in sections with the bike kits, sometimes skipping forward a step or two to complete a particular section or stage of the build, i find it easier to build like that and lees time consuming going between different parts.

Any questions don't be afraid to ask :thumb2:

Good luck with the bike kit mate.
I have never tried building one so couldn't offer any advise but I have known a couple of guys who post here have built them, can't think for the life of me who off the top of my head but I'm sure they'll drop by with friendly advise.
Hopefully you will find lots to see and do around the forum...
Good luck again, and look forward to seeing you post your progress for us guys to see!

Och aye th' noo! I can say that in a totally unpatronising way 'cos I'm from just up the road a bit (and to the right), you know form the bit where they play Golf a lot? ;) Yes, yes, I know there's Troon, but, well, St Andrews* does take the golfing biscuit, even if it's an all-butter shortbread served on a fine linen doily! Welcome to a world of madness, mate! :)

:welcome: to ISM mate, you may find it helps to build a couple of cheap starter kits before tackling your bike kit. This will let you practice the techniques needed and will build your confidence levels. Keep us posted with your efforts and if you get stuck give us a shout. Most of all enjoy yourself :)
