Egg Shuttle Egglantis

Post by DBMiller »

This has been in my stash for almost 20 years I think. The box was dusty, coming apart, and doesn't have one of those nice Manga girls on the cover! It does come with an astronaut and a wire to display him attached to the shuttle!
I don't even know where or why I bought it! I must not have seen one before and thought it was cool.

Nice, might want to check if this kit has value for collectors, amazing what value some kits have in old boxings!

Wish i'd thought of the pun "Egglantis" I'll call mine "Eggdeavour" :)

Good to see another Eggbiter going into Yokerbit

Starting the build.

These are NASTY! A lot of clean up needed on the engine bells.

This is exactly how it was done on the real shuttle. Honest.

Well, I've been busy at work and too tired to build anything at night. Here is a small update on the shuttle.
Masking would have been much easier if I had painted it before I glued the wing to the fuselage!

Should be done on time though! :thumb2:

Damn space program; always behind schedule and over budget! The reflective coating on the bay doors is wonky (and they are not attached yet), the painting isn't done, and the engines aren't even installed! Honestly, how do we expect to get to Mars is we can't even have an Egg Shuttle done on time! :wall:

I got on the sub-contractors and the engines are finally in! I only hope they don't turn out to be the "built at 5PM on a Friday afternoon" type. After I took these pics I gave it a touch up and a coat of clear for the decals. The payload is ready to install and the crew (of one) is suited up and ready to launch!

Decals...sigh. I can't even fire the painting contractor at this late a date. :bash:

Gotta love those exploding decals. Why, oh why, knowing these were old decals, did I not use my decal fixative?
