Not sure, apparently it was retired in 1964. So I wouldn't think it was used in Vietnam. Maybe someone else can find more info?

Scrub that, just read that they flew 100 missions early in the Vietnam war!

Ha ha! Sorry mate, I'm finding conflicting info on this. Just read another article that says it never saw combat. Damn internet! Hopefully a history buff will read this and let us know!

Yeah that's what I'm wondering, if the subject that I'm modelling has to have participated in the Vietnam war, or is it good enough that the aircraft was used at some point.

It's kind of confusing for this, because the search sometimes gets confused between the F4D Phantom, and the F4D-1 Skyray.

Sorry mate! It was never in Vietnam. The last unit to fly it was a Marine Corps unit who flew them until 1964. This unit didn't deploy to Vietnam until 1965 and they deployed with Phantoms.
