My D-Day GB - Newbie

Post by TechHead »

Hi all,

I'm just about to finish off my first model build in my adult life (Airfix Spitfire Mk1A 1:72), and really like the idea of taking part in the upcoming D-Day GB. As I only live down the road from Maston airport where some of the Hawker Typhoon's flew out of during D-Day (http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/ra ... ar_two.htm), I thought it fitting to build my own Typhoon offering for the D-Day GB.

I'm going to stick with Airfix 1:72 as I am still starting out and will also be brush painting only. Also the Hornby/Airfix HQ & visitors centre is also only just up the road for me, so I have to contribute to the local economy. ;) I've attached the image of the model box.

Using the following after-market decals from XtraDecal: MN317 ZY-B 247(China British) Sqn 124 Wing RAF Hurn 1944 with D-Day stripes - see attachment also.

Can someone please confirm that this will meet the D-Day GB requirements? :)

Thanks in advance,

Simon

As far as I can see, this should be ok - as long as you are using the invasion stripes option, and the aircraft was noted as being in a squadron that flew as part of D-Day, then I don't see a problem. Obviously Lee, Paul and GB moderator have final say on the matter :)
