Tiger Tank SIG in honor of Coen C(Jan. 1st-April 1st 2015)

Post by rsrdevon »

Alright guys Myself and James Divall have decided to team up and do a SIG for early next year. We are wanting to do a Tiger I Tank SIG in Coen's honor. You can build any version of the Tiger I Tank that you want. Any kit you want. Any scale. Just have fun and build a Tiger Tank in the way you want it. Make it fun and make it yours. As Coen said "It's your hobby make it yours"

We are wanting to start this on January 1st and run it til April 1st. No April fools joke LOL. This is for real. It was mainly my idea to honor Coen with this SIG. I asked James to help me and he was happy to do it. We both have no idea what we are doing. But maybe some of the guys who have experience at this can lend a hand with ideas on how to and such? You can either just do a picture log here on ISM or do video updates on youtube or both.

We wanted to wait til the start of the new year because this year is so full already with builds and to give you all a chance to get kits and decide if you want to join. As well as give James and myself a chance to get our ducks in a row on how to do this.

We thank you ahead of time for your patients with us as we go through this. This could turn out terrible on our end but in the end everyone who joins in will at least have fun building a kit in Coen's honor to have on their shelf.

Thank you for joining in with us. And remember this picture below as you build in his name. LOL

Personally I think Coen should build the Zvezda one OOTB....just joking that would be too cruel

Anyway I might be in, hopefully by then I will be able to save up the cash for a 1:35 scale one if not it will be one of Revell awesome 1:72 kits but there are some good looking 1:48 kits too...
On the small desk in the corner of my room:

Zvezda 1/72 IS-2

I would be in for sure. Currently working on a Tiger, but I still have one in the stash and will probably buy one or two more by then anyway...Unless you count King Tigers, or Jagdtigers, in which case I have....more than 1. From the time I've been hanging around here and youtube though, to properly honor Coen I think one would do a Tiger 1. Seems to be his thing.

I think Tiger I is the way to go to properly honor Coen. Just make your own section in here when you start your build. You can either just post pictures and text here or do youtube videos as updates. Or do both some pictures and text and videos. Just put links to the videos in your section here to make it easier to follow.

Between what he has built on the shelfs and the stash, I'm not sure Coen left any Tiger kits for anyone else.

If I can find a kit he's not hoarding, I'm in. Or plan "B" is to break in and take one of his...

Oh man that's worse than me. I've been sitting on the fence of buying that kit for months now. Tell you the truth if I had known the price was below 30 (29 mind you, I think) on scalehobbyist the last time I ordered something I'd have thrown it on the order. I watched your review Coen, a while back. And it seems to me apart from the molded on swing arms/torsion bars and the two half pieces for the turret it's a Dragon Tiger of the standard my Zimmerit late Tiger is. Most of those sprues are from high end Tigers. The wheels I think I'd cut apart. I think....So on the fence about that kit.

But seriously with the two halves for the turret...why? that's such a hard seam to make perfect. Suppose you don't see it much. If I build my late Tiger before this maybe I'll do that one for this build. maybe. So not sure about that kit.

This is a great idear. Count me in. the Tiger is not my fav, but I have recently found a hidden tanker in my so hay not going to pass this. Plus I have plenty of time to get one ready for this.

This is looking to be a fun SIG build, and I love the reason for this. Just to honor a great fellow modeller with something I have head he likes.

I've built it twice.... It use to be one of dragon's more useful and better kits because of the options it provided, until the collectors got their mits on it. Now it's too expensive to be the "useful" kit that it was.
I think that there was an earlier release of that one that was so jam packed full of extras that the box exploded when you opened it. Haha.
I can't remember the kit number though.

Thats the very same kit i am going to build. You are more than welcome to join in. Its not the end of the world if you dont finish in time. Just so long as you have fun. Thats all that matters. But i understand if you dont join due to school work. Schooling has to always come first. Just the same for family. Ill put you down as a maybe for joining. No pressure though at all.

OK Willem I'm in...
Now this is a bit rich, as the man who has put me up for it (Willem) has just admitted that he has never build Armour.....steady chaps.
I have been hankering to start a Tiger 1 for some time and think I need to lose my Tiger virginity :eeek:
I think I may go down the Dragon route but plenty of time to make decisions.
Anyway for Coen, a man who has given everything and more to this site.....its an honour (Plus Lee and Paul's contribution, sorry :th: ).
