With the airbrush still loaded with the last of the buff, a little more thinner was added along with XF84 dark Iron and the tracks were then base coated

Will now paint all the tools prior to applying the pigments, catch you all soon, take care guys!

Wheely boring update (continued)
5. Random staining achieved by applying multiple layers of neat white spirit and also very dilute washes - both in specific areas or zones, not all over the wheel

6. Then Mig oil and grease stain mixture added to taste. Thus completes a wheel

Jack block painted a buff colour (Vallejo) followed by successive washes in oils of sepia and raw umber until happy with the effect. The part is pre-grained so no need to muck about too much trying to create a wood effect.
The metal strips then painted German grey and picked out with graphite

Mono and binocular sights base painted with Vallejo shades of sand and khaki, chipped with German grey. Oil was of sepia then edged with graphite once dry. The sights were first painted silver, again Vallejo followed by Tamiya clear green

The vision blocks were tackled next, all painted with Vallejo camo black brown. The glass the represented by painting the small square silver then clear green

The rear decks tools were all painted using Vallejo and oil washes.
The weathering go the exhausts has started by first dry brushing the upper halves of the stacks with Humbrol 113 - the hood not been included as this will be dealt with slightly differently later.
Once dry the upper third of each stacked is then 'mapped' using Vallejo leather brown.
A light sepia wash then brings it to the stage seen in the image below. More weathering of the exhausts to follow, this is not their finished state

Really fluffed the pigments, not to my liking at all. Pretty much the same method as the wheels albeit all three tones on a once then fixed with white spirit. I have had no time to spend on this, should have waited but every time I went by the bench just had to tinker here and snatch another minute there ..
Pigment applied prior to any stains and wear

So this is it right this very second. Built up the lower hull weathering and collating all the wheels. Tow cable painted and stuck into position.

ok, onto the tracks. If you recall they have been primed and base coated. Three pigment tones selected - i.e. the ones already used for the wheels

Gently apply the light tone, in this case European Earth, followed by picking out a few areas with the mid tone - dark mud

Then using the darkest tone - Russian Earth add this to the centre of the track run;

Once all in place use White Spirit or pigment fixer to set.
Use capillary action, don't disturb the pigments too much.
Tracks now in place.
