Awesome!gazcbm wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2017 7:32 pm Hi All,
First timer here! I used to build models as a kid and cant remember the last time I built one (+15 years ago). My experience then was with Humbrol Enamels, 1 paint brush and a bottle of turpsFor the past 5 years I have been slowly buying models of interest with a view that one day I would like to get back into the hobby. Ive never used photo etch, resin, acrylics, an airbrush or model filler so hopefully that sets the scene of what you are dealing with here

After happening upon this forum and this SIG build in particular I have decided now would be a great time to start. My entry may look relatively straight forward but it pretty much involves everything I have never done listed above so hopefully I can provide you with some laughs and cringe moments along the way
And here it is...

Thanks for the welcome. I am a massive 2001 fan too, even watched the sci-fi films that influenced Kubrick on 2001 such as Ikarie XB1. This is my first foray into making a sci-fi model despite collecting a few kits along the years. I recently pre-ordered the Moebius 3ft Discovery model due out at the end of the year and also hoping to include another 2001 based kit to the SIG comp if I have time.DrSprue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2017 1:20 am Ohh sweet SSV, no sci fi movie in this world can put that film to the test, my God I loved those space vehicles, Discovery One, Orion III, on and on, even HAL9000 is in our world..... except a bit nicer! Go for it!!
