Re: 2020 Group or Special Interest Builds
Unicorn build poses some problems in that I have a number that I could lump into that category how is someone supposed to choose. They would be unicorns for many different reasons such as never having done a resin kit or never having rigged a bi plane or the multitude of decals on a modern era jet. I only have one ship in the stash never built one of those either Pe for one of those would be a nightmare and then there's rigging as well.....aarrrgggg !

Perhaps to enter the unicorn build, you enter between 3 and 5 kits currently in your stash and let the members decide.

I like this idea. Not that it would matter to me - I don't have a stash (I buy to build), therefore no unicorn unfortunately.bfrd wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2020 3:16 pm Perhaps to enter the unicorn build, you enter between 3 and 5 kits currently in your stash and let the members decide.

Ohh - like that idea!! But the wife would kill me if a 1/72 Type IX or a 1/200 Admiral Donbass turned up.... Not to mention where the hell do I put it!! There is a 1/72 Flower Class in the stash sitting there because currently there is nowhere to put the finished build....Johno wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:15 am Loving all the ideas so far, the 80's and the desert would be my favorites of those suggested. I'd maybe suggest a naval theme to add to the list, any navy boats, subs, aircraft and amphibians.

I'd really like to see a purely Soviet vehicle GB or Eastern Front GB.

Guys,
if we keep coming up with more excellent SIG ideas we may overload the site and crash the servers. Its getting to the point where my Shiny Thing and Pick Me Pick Me syndromes are kicking in.
Every time we get a new SIG idea

Its calling me to vote for it

It's probably a poor reflection on me than anything else, but everytime I read the phrase 'beautfiul hookers' I immediately think about something COMPLETELY different than aeroplanes

Re: 2020 Group or Special Interest Builds
Can I get some clarification on the proposed Unicorn Build please?
By 'challenge' do we mean a kit that stretches one technically or a kit that is poor and we don't want to build it?
I don't build like building really bad kits, fair play to those who do, but its not my thing.

Re: 2020 Group or Special Interest Builds
I saw the Schnellboot at a local hobby shop. The box was big enough to fit a body in it and the guy was selling the deck crew kit for free with it. TBH I'm still not actually sure how I managed not to buy it. It might have been the day I walked out with 2 RFM Tigers (1 with full interior) so my wallet had already run back to the car before I saw it.RangerNeil wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:06 pmThe missus is now wondering why I sit here drooling,,,,, If only she knew... I consider a 'unicorn build' to be that special subject I've always wanted to build but don't think I'm good enough. So it just sits there. I have a few that fit that description.Stokesy44 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2020 12:04 pm Can I get some clarification on the proposed Unicorn Build please?

I have the itelieri schnellboot in the stash I got it to help me build a R/C one. Buy a GRP Hull and scratch built the rest. Being an S 100 I even built the skullcap from scratch as well. Three geared motors with three rudders powered the beast.

How about a "sows ear to silk purse" build. You know, that old kit with raised panel lines or poor fit that just sits on the bottom of the pile because you can't bring yourself to toss it out.
