At first I was not fan of heavy lifter; but now, I'm sort of excited to do that.

The middle two are both the same thing as far as I'm concerned. Although civilian stuff is not exactly out of my comfort zone, that sort of thing would sit in my stash for years if I had anything. I haven't voted for either of those so as not to mess it up for those who intend to join in with them.

Ok, I think I have it all sorted out. I had to re-write the poll section a little to include a "seed" value. I seeded the poll with the previous counts. The votes will appear on top of the old values.

This is looking a bit better - I don't have any heavy lifters in my collection. Unless you call the Apollo upper stack with the command / lunar module a heavy lifter.

This might be a silly question, but will the order in which the GBs run be dictated by the order in which they ranked in the poll? I only ask as I have a desert subject that I'm really itching to build, and if it's not going to be the first GB then I'll just get started on it over the weekend.

Yes, so closing in on poll end here
It does look like desert and Out of comfort zone will pull through
So plan to start up your Desert GB for February 1st as we have had a number of requests for that one to get ready
If it holds, heavy lifters would be next
The out of comfort zone will run the longest gb slot at the end of the year until Jan 31 2022

You don’t have to have others choose your out of comfort project but can do a poll if you like...then it really is out of your controllAND comfort zone

Tough decisions. Two were relatively easy but the third selection was a toughie. One could lead me to breaching my no new kits rule which I have managed to adhere to for 29 days so far!

Got a nice selection for the desert SIG so its good to see it out and ahead. I think I have the 'Out of my comfort zone' SIG covered too but I will have to seriously think about whether I would run a poll or not. I know what you lot are like and I guarantee you'd select the one you think I'd dislike the most!

Only joking. In truth, the challenging kits I have in the stash are all crackers so I wouldn't mind which one got selected.

So I have cast my vote, lets just hope there's no meddling with the voting machines! And as for my third choice, here's a clue.

I'm going to call it...

Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert
February 1st to May 31st

You are free to choose any kit that is represented as being in a desert setting. This can be achieved via weathering techniques and/or dioramas. The key to this contest is that it must be clear to the viewer that the kit is in the desert.

Southampton Dock
May 1st to August 31st.

Any kit that is a utility vehicle. It must push, pull, lift, carry, or some other form of work. These can be civilian or military.

Not Now, John
Sept 1st to January 31st, 2022

This is any kit that you have been putting off due to it being out of your comfort zone or one that provides a personal challenge. You can select this kit yourself or let others choose from a select set of kits you own.

As with all of the forum contests, the thread is KEY. Your thread must show your progress and highlight any issues. We want you to take our readers on your building journey. If you have any questions about the validity of your selection feel free to ask.

One does not have to put up a poll for the last gb...just choose your own
It gives some leeway for those voting for the fourth civilian category to build that as well..just saying

For the Southampton Dock build I note there's a reference to size.

I have a 1/35 British Airborne Jeep with trailer and Pak Howitzer. Is that a little on the small side? Are you looking more at things like a FAMO transporter etc?

This happens at the start of every new year; I get enthusiastic about new builds then don't finish one or more of them. This past year was my worst ever - but I have kits for all three builds and will give it a go. In preparation I've done some more work on my Alien so I won't have such a guilty conscience about starting a new kit.
And it was looking mean at me as I sorted through my kits.
